help! broke my shift key stabilizer..
« on: Mon, 18 April 2011, 18:59:25 »
i just got my cherry red g80 board in the mail and i think i got way too overly excited when pulling out the keys to put on my double shots...

so when i pulled my left shift key i seemed to pop something out of place... i tried to put the shift key back on it but it's hard to push down.. i think i messed up something with the stabilizers

the stabilizers aren't attached to the key itself though.. it's jus for the board

i was able to get the left stabilizer "back in place".. but there's still something wrong.. like when i put the shift key on top it wont push down really or it's just kinda stuck there

i looked at the wiki real quick but i didn't see anything..

help on how to fix~!  here's my ghetto cell phone pic

No worries! See how on the left side the metal bar isn't clipped into place like on the right? Just try to push it gently back into the clip that holds it.

Nice board btw!

kbl~@! save meeeeeeeeeeee im like panicking haha

ok so yea it's like.. i was able to push it back into place but it doesn't feel right

it's hard to notice but the right stabilizer is higher than the left... i think i pulled the right stabilizer upwards.. like out of place or something.. it doesn't seem like i can push it back down though... should i use force? i dont want to break anyuthing further so i figured i'd post first =(

and thanks

when i put the bar back in place.. then i put the shift key back on it.. it pops back out..which i think is caused because i pulled the right stabilizer out a little bit.. as in "up"

Don't push it back down! You'll need to re-seat it. Don't worry; it's easy and you'll learn how it works.

Edit: lift up the right part of the stabilizer slightly. See how there's a little clip in the back? You need to put that part back into the pcb first, then push (slowly) the front part in as well (where the hole for it is).

Definitely don't force anything into any holes (that's what she said!)

Yep, if you decide to put doubleshots on that board it'll likely happen again...but you'll get used to it and they really are easy to take out completely and re-seat. You only paid $100 for that board? Where'd you get it?

ahh yea you're right though..i actually took out the stabilizer and stared at it for a second jus to check out how it works..kinda.  now i wont be worried unless i actually break the stupid plastic thing

yeaa i got it from the classifieds section from "gregh" here on GH... was a cheap price because there's a cat scratch on the top of the board... but it's not as bad as i thought (the pictures magnified it) and it's definitely cheaper than the filco reds........annnnd i always wanted an authentic cherry board~!

i'm so excited...

over a keyboard >.<

LOL
