Noppoo Choc Mini Brown -- Defective or Abused?

So I bought a Noppoo Choc Mini Brown off the classifieds and received it today.  Was a little disappointed in the condition, as my understanding was that it had hardly been used.

But that's beside the point.  My number one complaint is that the 'F' key sticks up more than the surrounding keys.  It's highly annoying to type on because of this.  Is this a common Noppoo Choc Mini problem? Can it be corrected? Am I being too finicky since I've been spoiled by the Realforce?  See attached pictures.

Also, the USB plug is bent.  I'm assuming this isn't normal either?  Makes me wonder where this keyboard has really been.

The 'F' key isn't budging, no matter how hard I push and wiggle, remove and replace the key, etc.  The funny thing is, it appears that there are about 7 keys that are a bit askew like that.  The 'F' key is just the most extreme.

Hikes, that's a scary picture. It actually makes my TVS Gold keycaps to almost look good.

They must also have an awful lot of flex too.

I believe it was either my J or F key that was far higher than all other keys. At first I was a bit hesitant, but using quite a bit of force pushing on it and "wiggling" the key as Ripster stated caused it to finally wear in and seat properly.

This is probably how the person you bought the keyboard from received it. They do seem to have quality-control issues. Also had some light white marks/scratches on the front of the KB (cable side), though since I never look at the side of the KB it didn't bother me too much. Overall I love the keyboard (the keycap feel + MX browns = WIN), but it has it's issues.

From what I hear in other forums, Noppoo has horrible quality control. Cracks in cases, scratches here and there..etc.

Ok.  So, considering how miserable I was typing on the Noppoo, and how much lower my WPM and accuracy went when switching to it, I figured if I broke the damn thing, then no loss.  So I pushed as hard as I possibly could and wiggled like mad and the friggin' 'F' key is now level with its neighbors.  I suppose 'firmly' means apply 180lbs of pressure.

I'm the third owner -- I can't believe this didn't annoy the previous owners!?  Although, the WASD keys appear otaku now... so I'm assuming they were exclusively gamers. Who needs 'F'?

Now where's that thread where someone claimed that the Noppoo Choc Mini had better build quality than the KBC Poker? I hope that's not true.

LOL.. ok.  That's fine and dandy. But considering the Noppoo I received was used by the first owner for 15 hours (with a crazy elevated 'F' amongst other keys) and then pawned off to another owner... who didn't like it because of the Cherry Brown switch... but if my first assessment of a Cherry Brown was based off 8 askew keys, then yeah.. regardless of switch, that's going to be a crazy typing experience.  

I am only thankful for insanely supportive members like Ripster and Vittra who make you f$@k your keyboard up till you correct the manufacturer.  I can feel less jilted now!

Thanks guys!  Now I worry that Cherry Browns are gonna piss my neighboring cubicle mates off since I bottom out.

Hi Queue, sorry to hear about your dissatisfaction with the board. I can see how you'd be bothered by these issues.

I'm new to the mechanical keyboard and the Noppoo CM has been the only one I've ever typed on.
The listing was true about the time spent on it (on my part anyway) and I just felt it out in that period.
I inspected the board to the best of my ability before shipping but didn't perceive any gross problems (inexperienced as I am).

In the future, as a seller, I'll definitely be more thorough with the listing (i.e. my own hi-res pictures).

Thank god, mine arrived like new.  I checked the board thoroughly and didn't see any of those issues/blemish.  Thank you bakageta.  I think it's a 2nd hand but is in really good condition.

No worries.  I certainly don't blame you; you were a great pleasure to work with!  Very prompt, attentive, and responsive.

I'm not experienced with mechanical keyboards by any means either!  My first was a Topre, so I jumped the game.  I took Ripster literally (after many minutes of consideration) and extra FIRMLY pushed the keys down and was able to seat them.  The USB plug is still bent, and the keys still have a sheen to them, some of them worn off, but I touch type anyway.  

It was the first used keyboard I'd ever bought, and I suppose I expected more, but GeekHack made it better.  Sheen? Who cares. Rubbed off keys?  I touch type. Raised keys?  BASH them down. Gashes in the keys... well.. deal with.. Sucks a bit.. especially when it is is a custom CAPSLOCK key.

I think you'd like a Realforce. :)

The only problem I have with mine is that the period key is a bit stiffer than the rest. It's sort of a bummer as sometimes it gets caught when I use my ring finger to poke at it.

I have just gotten my hand on a KBC Poker(on-loan from a friend) and I have to say that KBC Poker have much better QC then the Noppoo.
