Double Shots

Why are Double Shot keys so revered?  Is it because of the way they're made or is it because it's just representative of a bygone era that was void of cheap mass production practices?

So they're more durable?  I've never seen keys shatter or break down during use.  Some intense and repetitive pressure must be being applied to these keys.

from personal experience... the default keys on most boards are thin/cheap abs keys.. when i put on my double shots.. they're thicker and shorter in profile which change the feel of the keyboard

and they look nice >.<

When you hear that they are more durable, it's more about the labeling of the keys than the actual key falling apart.

There is no way that the letters are going to fade away on a doubleshot key

Yes. Double shots also have a very clear contrast which some people prefer.

My cherry doubleshots are my shiniest and smoothest keycaps.

They will definitely go slick just like any others, but as mentioned above, the legends don't wear off.

but then they are easy to unshine as well.
Ill sit watching a movie and gently rough up the top with some fine grade sandpaper + a drop of green dish soap, going through a set in about 20-30 minutes. Rinse them off after and the shine is gone.

(side note...by fine i mean FINE, you dont want crater-keys)

1. They're high contrast and the lettering is extremely crisp.
2. The lettering is almost impossible to wear off.
3. Dye sub keys (the only decent alternative) are expensive/impossible to obtain for Cherry MX switches. You also can't get white lettering on black with dye sub.
