Why did you buy tenkeyless?

Why did you buy a tenkeyless keyboard (or smaller)?  Does the extra space make your mouse hand feel more relaxed?  Do you ever find your self putting in your credit card number and wish you had that num pad to make it go faster? (If you bought an addon num pad pretend you didnt )

I bought it because when I thought about it I never really used the numpad on my old board and more space is always welcome as I like having plenty of space for my mouse. I don't notice the change of positions that much so the added space only lets me keep more stuff around my desk, doesn't affect mousing or typing that much. It does allow for more freedom regarding mouse positioning, so sometimes it's nice to have that extra space.
The lack of tenkeypad also lets me store my other keyboard more easily on my desk when not in use as I have two tenkeyless boards that I like to switch between.

Though to be honest there just seems to be something lacking without the numpad, the board doesn't feel complete without it. Still, the tenkeyless is so small and neat that I don't mind. But I would like a fullsize board with blacks or something that I could pull out every now and then just for giggles and gaming.

Jokes aside, I really liked how my right shoulder no longer aches when I moved my mouse closer.
You won't catch me owning a full-sized keyboard as long as I'm alive!

If you are a hardcore typist like me, you will know that all the major keys I type are too far left. This just makes my shoulders and postures hurt, therefore bad for my health. But numpad makes to type numbers much faster, which is suited for office workers.  But I don't type number that much often, I just didn't want my shoulders and back to hurt so tenkeyless or even smaller one to to put the keyboard in the right position is for me

I use the tenkey to type credit card numbers and my username, otherwise I use the number row.
I don't use it enough to justify having it instead of freeing space for my mouse.

Oh wow.  I cant tell if the keyboard is too far left for me and I use my keyboard a hella lot.  My back hurts somedays, but I hope its natural and not from typing xD.

Personally, I bought a keyboard even smaller than a tenkeyless, mainly for its layout and it's ability to travel with me. But on my workstations, I have terminal emulators. I rarely use the mouse and the keyboard at the same time though (UNIX beard), so for me, that's not really an issue.

I bought a tenkeyless otaku just to try it out.  I didn't think I'd care for the tenkeyless part but I actually like it.  It does seem to make the hand positions more natural.

I bought a tenkeyless because I wanted a mechical keyboard for one, but I got tired of the size of my keyboard as well.  It was either shifted to the left off-center so the mouse was in a comfortable position, which made typing more awkward, or if I moved the keyboard so it was more centered it would push the mouse too far to the right which I didn't like either.  So now I have my Filco tenkeyless at home and a choc mini at work, and I don't think I'll ever buy another full sized keyboard again.  If I do feel the need to really use a numpad again I'll just buy a cheap USB numpad and keep it off to the side.

Let me tell you a short story.
 I have a friend. For years I used to tell him how I hate numpad so much and that I wish I could get a (mac) keyboard without numpad for shorter travel distance in between mouse and the typing area of the keyboard. No matter how I explain the reason behind it, His respond would always be "It doesn't bother me!~~". Until this one day, recently, he got himself a keyboard tray. The keyboard tray comes with a mouse platform that could go over the numpad area of the keyboard. He told me "You know what? I kinda like it that way!" After I bombarded him with enough mech keyboard talks, He got himself a filco not too long after. A happy tenkeyless filco user now he is.

The merit is, if you don't  have much use (only occasional credit card entries) for the numpad, you can only benefit from not having it.

The placement between the the mouse and WASD feels much more natural too me. Although I do miss the enter on the keypad. It got some getting use to since I would naturally use the keypad enter in many situations.

It's the hipster thing to do.  Full Size keyboards are too mainstream.

i was always reliant on the number pad for my numbers..and i still am to an extent... but i wanted to try the whole ergonomic thing for when i'm gaming.  i didn't even really notice the difference tbh

but just recently i tried using a full length keyboard while gaming and holy crap it's uncomfortable lol.  i appreciate the tenkeyless so much more...

my solution is having a tenkeyless for gaming.. and a full sized board for programming or extensive number use..

or you can jus buy an external numberpad

edit: actually i lied, i bought the tenkeyless because i was stuck with a ****ty, not long enough keyboard tray for my glass desk.. but i found a solution to that problem.  also now being able to use the original number row without looking is really nice (not having to move my fingers off the homerow)

pure aesthetics. size and also the leopold tenkeyless has no led area (they are under the keys, I never use capslock anyway) and there is no name on it which I love.

You get used to the lack of numpad and 99% times I don't use it anyway. And you can buy a numpad keyboard like me and just connect it whenever you need for the 1%.  

I definitely need to save space for the mouse so my arms are in a more natural position. Also transitioning from typing with both hands to using right hand for mouse is easier. Which is why I'm looking forward to the poker-x so much despite it's flaws. Currently typing on my noppoo and it's just freaking great!

Because I barely use my numpad unless I am at work. It fits in my backpack. Could literally fit inside of my old keyboard (g15 v1)

Found a dirty but fully functional IBM tenkeyless along with several other Model Ms, and I knew that it was worht way more than $10 per keyboard, even if the other ones weren't.

I also got one to relieve shoulder pain. That's the same reason I bought my Castro hat, fixed gear bike, skinny jeans and ironic t-shirts.

A lot of the stuff I input is combinations of numbers and letters, so tenkey is kind of useless for me. I also find it distracting to stop and look down at the keyboard while I'm in the middle of shouting obscenities at coworkers.

I've been contemplating full size vs tenkeyless for a while, since I do use my numpad.  Growing up I had to be ambidextrous for certain tasks (working on pesky European cars, family business), so I started using my left hand for numpad-duty while traversing text fields with my mouse/right hand.  I know DSI has lefty boards, but I'd much rather have a seperate USB numpad (best if I can find mech one) and tenkeyless board at this point.  It's really awkward using left hand on numpad and right hand on mouse, then moving the keyboard back to type normally.

I can get a new Das locally for $114cdn shipped after tax, whereas a Leopold would be $132cdn shipped but might get dinged by taxes.  Hmmmmm.....

There wasn't enough space for my full sized keyboard. I play a bit of FPS games and my mouse would hit the keyboard all the time. Now the tray broke and I'm just using the top desk and there is plenty of space now.
