Das keyboard or similiar KB to Sweden
« on: Sat, 30 April 2011, 17:33:43 »
Hi all.

I got a problem. I want the Das keyboard so badly because it seems like all the properties it has suites me perfectly. However, I can't seem to buy it because I live in Sweden. My first question is, do someone know a place where I can buy it to sweden - preferbly in dollars.

If there is no way I can find that keyboard, do someone know another one that is similiar to that one?

I thank you in advance and sincerly hope you can help me.

Best regards,
Davoud

I found this link in the Geekhack shopping wiki:
http://www.getdigital.de/products/Das_Keyboard_Model_S

They seem to ship the Das Keyboard to Sweden from what i saw on the site, but i don't have any experience shopping with them. They seem to have the silent EU model in stock.
Anyone who tried this site? I'd perhaps like one aswell.

I just recieved and answer from another fellow that has used that site, and it worked. However I really don't like a silent keyboard - never used mechanic though - so I don't know how I will like it. Prefer that sounds are made.

And I rather find it in dolllars because the swedish crown is real strong against it - I am student :).

Please continue posting on my questions :)
And thank Alex for the reply.

I'm not sure if it would be a better deal to buy an american board in dollars since it would be higher shipping. The german site only charges 12 euro shipping from what i saw from the checkout menu. You might have to pay customs fee when importing from America aswell, not sure about the german retailer.

I'm sorry for not having any definitive awnsers :(

Thing is, the swedish crown is insanely strong against the dollar right now :)

Anyway, I must have missed it. But you can actully buy the Ultimate EU edition that is not silent on that page, or am I wrong?
Anyone got a oppinion about the Ultimate edition?

The S Ultimate EU edition seems to be out of stock, according to the site they might get them again mid May. :(

Oh so the silent one is brown. And if I am not correct it is in sound level between the blue and black yes?

Honestly, I never thought about Filco because the homepage makes me confused... It's so damn many different ones and dont know what to pick. Could you give me a summary perhaps? They look real clean and nice though.

keyboardco.com is good retailer, their stock seems to sell quite fast though.

Also, it depends on if you want blanks or is SW/FI layout is ok, price is quite high though...

There is number of options depending on needs, blues are very common switch...
So I should add something useless here yes? Ok, ok...
Filco 105-key NKRO MX Browns Sw/Fi-layout|IBM Model M 1394545 Lexmark 102-key Finnish-layout 1994-03-22|Cherry G80-3000LQCDE-2 with MX CLEAR

Dell AT102W(105-key SF) (Black ALPS)|Steelseries Steelkeys 6G(MX Black) ISO-FI-layout|Cherry G84-4400 G84-4700 Cherry MLs

Hi, hope this short description will help a little get rid of your confusion ...

FKB - Filco Keyboard
[N] - N-Key rollover (none - no, N - yes)
[#Keys] - Number of keys
[M|MC|ML|MR] - Switch type (M - brown, MC - blue, ML - black, MR - red)
/
[NBER|AI|EB|FRB|GRB|ITB|SWB|UKB] - Layout type (SWB - Swe/Fin (ISO), EB - US (ASCII), ... )
[2] - PCB (none - type 1, 2 - type 2)

It might well be that this is the one for you
'FKBN88M/SWB2 - Swedish/Finnish Filco Majestouch-2, Tenkeyless, NKR, Click Action, Keyboard'

... but ... as Ekaros said before:
Quote
There is number of options depending on needs......

PS: Maybe it's worth a look Das vs Filco

An alternative would be the Zowie Celeritas (Cherry MX Brown) which you could get here for 1290 SEK + s/h. It should have Swedish layout. 6-KRO. Myself, I don't like the front bezel, but at least it does not look weird like many other "gaming keyboards" do. I think that there are several reviews on this forum.
