Amstrad KB-5312R mechanical or rubber dome...?

I just bought a new Amstrad KB-5312R. Seller didn't respond to my request to pull a key so I took a gamble.

I did a quick google around and it looks as though compaq and chicony have made a keyboard using the same model number.

What do we think; mechanical or junky rubber dome?

Do any contemporary keyboards come with such a variety of colors? I kind of like it. :redface:

It looks like one of those old word-processor keyboards - I remember Amstrad making a few that looked almost like regular PCs, some with floppy drives next to the built-in screen, some in the base unit - horrible 3" 'quick disks' which were a no-man's land before long.  I only saw those on some ancient Akai 612 sampler and the Sinclair Spectrum +3 (which was made by Amstrad anyway).

Anyway, I seem to recall some of the keyboard looking like that, with the multi-colour section at top.

Yep this is the keyboard from an Amstrad PCW16 word processing thingy.

I have a very interesting Amstrad keyboard with a quasi-mechanical switch using a light metal leaf actuated by a linear spring in the well of the key. Basically a buckling spring without the buckling^^. Very interesting feel, but more of a novelty then actually useful.

Interesting, I'll post up some pictures as soon as it gets here. I suspect rubber domes.
