Where's my Ducky?
« on: Sun, 15 May 2011, 00:35:53 »
I was looking for a tenkeyless and was getting ready to go for a tenkeyless Filco brown on Amazon. Then I found Ducky DK1087. It looks like a good alternative. I also like that it has detachable cord. I already have 3 full size Filco keyboards so I'd rather not get another one. Anybody has experience with DK1087? And where can I get one in US? I do like my Ducky DK9008 G2 So if quality is the same I probably won't be disappointed.

Some quack quack jokes while we wait.

Q: What time does a duck wake up?
A: At the quack of dawn!

Q: What do you call a crate full of ducks?
A: A box of quackers!

Q: Who stole the soap?
A: The robber ducky!

Q: What do you get if you cross a duck with fireworks?
A: A firequacker!

Q: What's another name for a clever duck?
A: A wise quacker!

Q: Where did the duck go when he was sick?
A: To the Ducktor

Q: What did the detective duck say to his partner?
A: I hope we Quack this case.

Q: What did the duck say to the banker?
A: My bill is bigger than yours.

A duck walks into a pharmacy and says, "Do you have any chapstick?"
When the pharmacist hands it to him, the duck replies, "Thanks, just put it on my bill."

I have a 1087 with browns, and it does the job. The case materials don't feel as high quality as a Filco or a Das, but the switches feel great and it's really fun to type on. If shiny keys turn you off, you'll want to stay away from this or get new keycaps, since the spacebar will get shiny in a couple days. I think you can buy them at PC Home, sometimes they have specials on shipping.

I'm not exaggerating, my space bar had a shiny spot in a couple days of fairly light use. It doesn't really bother me too much.

Thanks for the info. I'm leaning toward Filco again now. I just wish it has detachable USB cord.

Thanks! Great, now I'm back to Leopold again :)  It would be cheaper and it already comes with blank keys and it has detachable USB cord. Hmmm...

He should seriously thinking about getting a Model M SSK. He type so brutally and Cherry Switch(is that blue? blue cant even survive take on a heavy smash... I heavily pressed on one switch on my BWU and later it's sound and nature noticeably changed...) is too fragile to take on his FALCON SMASH...

I don't think he smashed his shift key and made it squeaky like that. Normally you use your pinky for the shift key. It would be hard to smash it like that. I think the rumors that Leopold has problems with stabilizers could be true. I'm going to with the trusty Filco.

Problematic stabilizer also occur on my Razer BWU so that isn't really a big deal for me, LOL.

What i say just now is about the stuck ''Win'' keys. He smashed it so hard, blue switch is quite fragile for smash...

Would be kind of difficult to imagine a keyboard with higher build quality than the Filco.

Well, for under $200 anyways...

What happened to the other NKRO test - the XEM thing is behind a password now?  Did somebody re-host that test?  The Microsoft one doesn't include WIN or ALT and doesn't differentiate between LSHIFT and RSHIFT.

Now the the leopold is 109+15$ shipping, you might as well spend the extra 15$ and get a filco.

On the other hand, my 1087 has been terrific, improved build quality compared to my previous one several months back.  They're 85$ shipped from PCHome, which is quite a bargain.  My ducky keys went shiny no faster or slower than my filco or leopold.

For the record, I was able to duplicate that bug using my Filco w/ PS2. It's definitely a bug with Aqua Test not being able to keep up with the keys, I believe.

Ricercar, the XEM test is password protected and not usable any more.  I'm looking for a similar Web app.

I posted the XEM script on my own site along with the microsoft test

Linky

Je ne comprends pas. ¿Host what code? ¿try which link?

The Javascript works without external references. I can turn off network connections and still test rollover with the Javascript. What code needs to be hosted?

Yes, that link prompts for a password. I agree; Why is that URL relevant when the Javascript is in the HTML of my web page? My web page appears to be self contained, not referencing the original host for any code.

Your brevity is costing you clarity. I still don't understand what part of the test resides elsewhere when I have the Javascript in my HTML..

Fixed up the UI. If ripster can't understand the page, that means something was dreadfully wrong.
