I need giant shiny balls
« on: Sat, 21 May 2011, 17:25:56 »
i want a heavy ball for my Slimblade (as per the mod done here by ???)

http://www.salemball.com/inventory/chromeMMInv.htm has a 55mm 100 grade for $18.20

Ball would weigh 1.50469267195014 pounds approximately

Any thoughts on if these are suitable and will work, and also if a PTFE ball would work (teflon)

this place might also be good for replacing old mouse balls (if you ever needed one!)

Is it possible to find very light balls for my CST 2545?

Ballllllllllllllllsssssssssssssssss oooooooooooo sssttttttteeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeelllllllllllllll.

I dunno.  Those Zirconium Dioxide bearings will wear down faster than Amy Winehouse's looks.  But then again, I don't proclaim myself the World's Foremost Trackball Expert.

Hands/fingers/skin promotes corrosion to metal based surfaces. It certainly looks cool though.

The concerns about the optical sensors depend on the implementation. If your trackball has the sensor peeping at the ball, you are fked. But if the sensors are watching slit wheels, then the surface of the ball doesn't matter.

Do you see a red light at the bottom of your trackball?

In my mod posts I show the CST Laser can track clear balls (click links in my sig).

Do you have a pic of the "cavity" without the ball?

Hey Ripster - I found your LED 101 article and I see you've been using those clear acrylic balls (120 grams or 4.2 ounces right?)...how is the performance on it? Does it roll easier than the standard weight pool balls?

That's awesome.

BTW I dropped my L-Trac onto the floor (I had it on the arm of my couch and forgot it was there). It must have knocked the bearing support back into place and it seems to move better now! I still have to train my fingers to deal with the inertia of the ball...Unreal Tournament 1999 + sniper rifle is accelerating my training efforts.

I feel stupid for buying the 3200 DPI one - as I realized I am actually a low sensitivity gamer. Oh well - maybe in 5 years when 4K monitors are out I can finally use it to its full potential.
