question about ibm model f vs m
« on: Wed, 25 May 2011, 21:02:07 »
so ive been looking on ebay at ibm model f's.  and i noticed that there were some model m's that looked exactly like model m's

eg

model f

model M

clearly they have the same layout.  but are also clearly labeled model f and model m respectively

is there a difference (besides label)

if not i love the look of the model f and would definitely consider getting one

No real difference between those two; both are terminal boards. Both require an adapter to function on a normal PC see here.

The only differences are the Model F has a capacitive circuit board and a metal base; while the Model M has a membrane sheet and a plastic base.

No, terminal boards look like terminal boards.

There's a few differences...

In some people's opinion, including mine, the Fs are sweeter to type on.
The Fs are slightly noisier.
The Fs have NKRO.
