Ninja First Impression and a Few Pictures

Hey guys, postie just tapped on the door...kind of late around 7pm UK time and dropped off my TKL ninja with browns.

Not a lot to say really but thought I'd post a few pics (sorry for bad pics....fading light and cheap camera)

In terms of feel the main difference over my gen 1 Filco TKL with browns is the keycaps sound and feel a little softer when you bottom out. Giving you even  more of a "Thock" sound which I really love. In terms of looks I like it...but its as you'd expect from the pics. Space bar feels tighter but that's hard to judge as my gen 1 space bar has been heavily used.

It comes with new key puller, ps2, 2 front face windows keys as well as the domed ones which are installed when box fresh.

Here's the bad pics.

Box

Side info

Flower on the back for LOLZ

Window keys got slightly different texture, can only see at this angle

Front windows key

Top..ish veiw

Front...ish veiw

Filco Logo

Superb service from keyboardco.com as usual.

I wish they just sold the keycaps. I like them, but already have a MJ2 Tenkeyless, and I don't know if it makes sense to buy another one just for the keycaps.

Looks sweet!  I think you meant to say "here's the badass pics", or is it "bad ass pics"?  I'm pretty curious to try the keycaps too.

Maybe a sound comparison between the both types of keys would provide us with no prior experience with the Ninja a good way to judge the difference.

Just sayin' if you got the time and effort to do that - much appreciated though.

That was a nice touch on the flower and the extra textured windows key puzzles me - why oh why?

Someone already posted this vid in another thread. My finding are its a perfect comparison. Even between the unused keys on my MJ1.

I just ordered up my Filco 2 Ninja Brown Tenkeyless. So I now follow the way of the Ninja... and I also follow flowers on back of boxes too.

I love that it comes with the plain windows keys too, I'm a Mac user, and while I dig me some BootCamp, I hate the bubble key thing with a passion. Ruins my Ninja presentation.

Nice, the keycaps look really neat.

Btw for those you were after NINJAs with other switch than blue, I just checked diatec page, english version, and they mark as 'new' products, now available the ninja(complete and TKL) with blacks and browns too. And they have a link on the bottom, to amazon, which directs to the front of amazon profile of thekeyboardco, which has some new models I haven't seen available before on there. More specifically, NINJA TKL with blacks and browns, and full layout with browns.

Hey does yours make a slight metallic echo when you tap down hard on keys? I think my keys echo off the steel plate? Not that loud really. Cant really hear it with my computer on, just wondering whether you heard and similar thing with yours? thanks

Another side note, I have heard it said that samurai didn't like the red sazanka flower, on the back of the ninja box, because it reminds of a severed head.

Yes....all 5 of the TKL filcos I've used have done this on certain keys both gen1 and gen2. And this one is the same. I'm sure there may be units out there that dont but it doesnt bother me in the slightest and is consistent with all the units I've tried. Hope that helps

@reaper~ you're most welcome.
