Really hard for me to say... I've only tried the ones that I have, the Blues and Blacks. I like both but I feel like I would really, really like Reds. Going back and forth between the two makes me appreciate tactile and linear equally.

Clear and black
If you live in AZ you can try my keyboards. I usually keep plenty of different ALPS and MX and buckling springs.

I actually only like clears, though I haven't tried reds as I'm not a huge linear fan. If only they came in a layout worth using. HHKB with cherry clears? I would consider buying that, I think.

I actually find browns to be annoyingly light to type on, blues are WAY too high pitched and feel like cheap buckling springs clones, and I'm personally not a fan of the linear blacks. Clears though are the right mix...the goldilocks switch, if you will.

I guess I'm just old enough and UNIX beardish enough that a solid UNIX layout is of primary importance, and switch is important, but less so. This is why all of the "HHKB killers" are nothing of the sort for people who actually value the HHKB layout more than the switching technology.

So what I'm saying is, clears are the best, but layout is more important than which cherry switch it has.
HHKB Pro 2 -- Custom UNIX layout Unicomp Customizer 101 -- IBM Model M 1391401 (modded to UNIX layout) -- IBM 1397000 (also UNIX layout) -- SSK in UNIX layout -- Model F 122 key in UNIX layout (Soarer USB "native")

CST L-TracX trackball -- Kensington Expert Mouse trackball

I really like the browns.  I tried the blacks and felt that they were too stiff.  I also tried the blues and didn't like the clicky sound they produced.  I haven't tried reds but I've read that they are similar to browns without the tactile feedback, which I wouldn't like.

White people having sex with black people make gray kids, seems logical to me.
Hoping to hear from you again, your dearest friend, sam113101.
