Racism is ignorance at it's most basic form (fear/hate what you don't know). But stereotype jokes, especially off-color ones can be some of the funniest ever, whether they are race, sex, age, geographics, etc. That's why they never seem to die off.

(Posted from the trailer, in the trailer park, next to 3 cars that don't run, in my wife-beater tshirt and mullet, drinking a case of PBR, 4 dirty children playing with trash in the dirt, playing an AM radio with coat hangar antennae, with my 17 year old wife I met on Jerry Springer when she was 15.)

never heard "yellow devil" googled it, seems to refer to koreans, idk why, i did however, see "slope" used... in the karate kid iii, nope i didn't mean to see it but it was just playing in the background and the villian refered to mr. miyagi that way.

I prefer asian over oriental myself, to me oriental always seems to be used as the term for a classification of furniture and as such i don't want to be referred to as carpet or a vase, then I wonder how Persians feel, but oh well.

I looked it up to, one of the definitions was "A derogatory term for the pokemon, Pikachu."  Do we have Pikachu haters in the thread?

But seriously as I understand it back in WWII especially, this was a common slur used by American servicemen to describe the Japanese.  Note though that as I understand it this was a play on the Japanese term "White Devil", or foreign/ghost/caucasian devil.  During time of war dehumanization of your enemy makes it easier to kill them so is common and often government sponsored.

There are references to poor quality manufacturing on some products and from some places. I don't see any real "racism" in it. I can't say I've read every post, but there seems to be too much hatred simply because of a difference of opinion.

There may have been a reason I selected that version over, say the below.  Can't imagine what it would have been though.

The above looks like it could be the cover of a porn video to me. Maybe just my dirty mind.

Here's a real keyboard geek girl

And a couple of sun bathing geek girls, note the reading material.  There is a version of this with them turned over but you'll have to find it on your own as I'm not posting it here.

On a side note, I don't like the term "asian". I prefer "oriental".

I think oriental is racist against non Asians, because it implies if you are not Asians, you are disorient!  ;-)

do any of you guys have a geek girl, you really seem to want like this "notion" of what a geek girl can be.

I have at home a little asian girl who is a chemical engineer, yea that's a pretty geeky job, she carries around a ti-85 in case she needs to make calculations. She's played every ff, except 12 cuz at the time we were playing EQ, in EQ2 she was my main healer, since i was the main tank and we were the best guild on our server cuz i couldn't be killed. She actually wants me to play ff4 (or was it 6) or at least try chrono trigger or play secret of mana with her, and i just don't have the time. Is she a retro gamer? maybe she hasn't played the copy of la noire i bought her cuz she's trying to complete the ff4 trilogy. Oh what is she reading? currently on her kindle it's game of thrones, cuz she loved the series so much, oh and she's still a girly-girl, i made a makeup wall for her, she has so much makeup it takes up an entire wall. What's she doing right now? she's watching anime.
She refuses to wear her glasses, even tho she doesn't need them (not 20/20 but still fine) cuz she thinks it makes her look dorky.

So is this the type of girl you guys dream of? cuz i never saw any of these attributes when i first saw her in college, just that she was cute and smart really.

yea that's what i'm coming at, my fiancee doesn't just go put her hair in a pony tail, put on thick glasses and a "1UP" t-shirt and go shopping. She still wants to look like a girl.

My wife doesn't like to look geeky at all, or like a porn star trying to look geeky.  But she majored in computer science and has worked in the field professionally for many years now.

I'm gonna second that. My girl is crazy hot and sexy, and she's a theoretical physics major, an astronomy buff, and loves playing co-op video games with me :)

Good morning Ripster. Can I convince you that this is better looking than she is as an avatar?
