In search of a Tenkeyless w/ red switches..
« on: Tue, 05 July 2011, 00:09:04 »
So I've been hunting for one for awhile now and the only tenkeyless with cherry mx switches I've found are plu87s and noppoo choc mini (which I guess is a tenkeyless but more of a specialty size board).

I could get the PLU87 but I kind of want something of a better build quality as well as a non 2KRO board.

I really wish I could get my hands on a Leopold :(

Any suggestions?

Oh and btw I live in US california.

I guess that Filco tenkeyless reds really was a limited edition.  Makes me glad I picked one up when it was on Amazon.

@OP, I'm sure you'll find one..  if not, just persuade ripster to sell you his, with engraved key caps and all.

lopan just posted on the Classifieds forum that he is selling a New Filco tenkeyless red.  http://geekhack.org/showthread.php?19510-HHKB-Pro-Realforce-86U-Filco-linear-R-Filco-104

I don't know anywhere that you can buy one now.

^ Well, it does say "Limited Edition" right on the box so I can only assume that it is. =D

Nope. OOS at AG.
You can consider getting them via Ruten which requires a local person to do forwarding, or consider Inpad, which you can order via CC, but it requires some conversation via Live Messenger in Chinese to obtain them.

Are there definitely Red switch Noppoo Choc Minis available? I saw one on eBay but figured it was probably just a ... marketing issue.

Try the groupbuy section here, qtran has a group buy and if I remember correctly said he has choco mini reds available.

The ebay auctions are from qtan and it isn't a marketing joke.

How you can order a international shipment from AG?

I just bought from AG a couple of weeks ago.  If you know Chinese it is fairly easy as you can pay with paypal.  There is guide on GH here on how to buy from AG.

there's one right now but black i just picked up the only RED around the forum. you gotta pry it out of my hands JK i haven't even tested it yet so we'll see.

so i hear reds are easier to make mistakes so go with browns if you can or blue. blacks if your a heavy typer if i'm not wrong. Users here will give you more of an input cause i just started buying keyboards. GL

No, not yet. I believe 2KRO is the minimum, the so called "weakest link". Meaning that some combinations are 2KRO, but most aren't. I've successfully had 5-6 keys register using AquaKeyTest. Not all combinations will yield that many, but a surprising amount around the WASD cluster will.

Hope to buy a red switch choc mini from qtan soon! Originally I wanted a Filco TKL with Browns, but I couldn't stomach the price and the wait for The Keyboard Co to get them back in stock. The main downside to the Noppoo, to me, is the ANSI layout, because I find the "\" key next to the left Shift very useful when gaming.
