Dell QuietKey ***NOS***
« on: Sun, 10 July 2011, 14:10:14 »
Dell QuietKey bought NOS off eBay.  Used for a few minutes before I decided that I didn't like the feel.  If you like rubber domes, however, it's about as good as it gets.  Make an offer.  (I don't expect to get a lot for this one, so if you want it and think your offer might be insulting, send it to me anyway.)  Model number is RT7D5JTW, and this one does have the windows/super keys.  (not sure if any were without or not - I'm not real up on my history of Dell keyboards.  I know the Alps slider versions came both ways, is why I'm specifying.)  Have original box, etc. if that is important to you, however the person who I bought it from did not box it up so it is not pristine, it has a shipping label on it.

Looking for Cherry MX-compatible doubleshots, or anything with Cherry clears. Also still looking for some more clear keytops for my Cherry POS board. Or white keycaps for a cherry numpad that have the arrows, etc. on them would be nice too.

Filco Majestouch-2 with Cherry Corp. doubleshot keys - Leopold Tenkeyless Tactile Force with Wyse doubleshots - Silicon Graphics 9500900 - WASD V1 - IBM Model M 52G9658 - Noppoo Choc Pro with Cherry lasered PBT keycaps - Wyse 900866-01 - Cherry G80-8200LPBUS/07 - Dell AT101W - several Cherry G81s (future doubleshot donors) (order of current preference) (dang I have too many keyboards, I really only need two)

Do you mean RT7D5JTW? That is the "good" model which has key sliders independent from the key caps. The large keys (Cap Lock in particular) slide much smoother in that model. They are markedly better than other rubber dome keyboards.

I just took a closer look and you are correct.  It is in fact RT7D5JTW and I've edited my original post to that effect.

It is a really nice feeling RD board and I've seen some opinons expressed that RD boards are better than some mechanicals for gaming, maybe one of those people would like to give this one a try?

I am one of those people, but sadly I already own three Quietkeys :)

NKRO is highly overrated.

The RT7D5JTW is one of the best feeling rubber domes out there, though the keycaps are mediocre.

If you want better caps the Apple Design Keyboard has caps that appear to be largely compatible, and those are much better. However that keyboard has worse feel and is also ADB.
