Old doubleshots.. worth saving?
« on: Fri, 15 July 2011, 02:49:39 »
Hi,

I threw a way a couple of crappy keyboards yesterday. I first pulled a key to check and 2 keyboards had Cherry compatible doubleshots so I pulled all of them.
Not sure if I will be using them myself.. but are these worth hanging on to?

(trying to keep this addiction in check and not have keyboards and caps everywhere :D )

Which layout, which boards? If they are compatible with Cherry 1800 series and are of German layout/equivalent, I'd be interested in a set.

They're not compatible with the 1800 series. No windows key. Huge left shift, stepped capslock, single row enter.
Definitely not german layout. Just regular US layout I suppose.

I'll clean them up and take a pic or something :)

Wouldn't mind selling them if anyone is interested (or trading them).

You're tempting me to keep them.. But as they seem to be a hot item I'll probably sell or trade them :)

Pretty fair trade IMO. Especially since those KBC white engraved are sold out everywhere.

I especially need the following in ansi: `, tab, capslock w/centered stem, shift both left and right, 1.25 unit - (2x ctrl, 2x alt, 2x win, application key), enter, \, backspace, print screen, scrl lock, pause, insert, page up, page dn, home, end, delete.
Any language set is fine with me, if you have at least most of those keys I would certainly trade you if you're interested.

Keys are ANSI but no win key (think it's pre '98). All the others shouldn't be a problem I think. I forgot the keys at work so will check on monday! What do you mean with 1.25 unit? Bit of a keyboard n00b so have no clue :)

(Should this thread by moved to classifieds or something since it's turned into a bit of a sell/trade?)

Nominal key footprint is .75"  so a 1.25 key is 1.25*.75 = ~.9375...  which matches the size of ctrl/alt/win/gui on a filco and most other standard sized KBs these days.

I opened a for trade thread before I was your thread, I suppose further discussion can take place there. Or just pm me after you take a look at what you have.

Man I was expecting some true vintage key caps.. like these: http://keyboardporn.com/keycaps/cherry-spherical-keycaps/

Still cool to see what looks like win keyless 3000 cherry double shots. I would have jumped on this if I wasn't waiting for my shipment from Europe.
