Bluetooth headphones enhance sound quality?
« on: Fri, 15 July 2011, 05:37:19 »
Hi!
I have a pretty low end android cell phone with really bad sound. I'm wondering if using bluetooth headphones will enhance the sound quality since they only receive the signal and have to process it to sound themselves?

While BT headphones are not exactly known to be the epitome of sound quality themselves (a good bit of data reduction going on there), they may well be worth a shot here. Just make sure you get some with decent SQ.
Hardware in signatures clutters Google search results. There should be a field in the profile for that (again).

This message was probably typed on a vintage G80-3000 with blues. Double-shots, baby. :D

I think just getting some decent wired headphones or earphones would make for a more noticeable improvement.

I have decent in-ear plugs but since the sound the phone produces is crap I really don't like using them. That's why I'm trying to figure out if this would be an alternative.

You can try a in-line amp that may fix up your SQ woes a bit if you do not want to go BT.  But I do like BT headphones for phone use so the wires do not have to get in the way.

Something like the Motorola S9's are great for athletic type stuff, and my Plantronics Pulsar 590's have really good SQ and comfort.

I would also make sure to test your earbuds with another device just to make sure its not the earbuds that you do not like, if they sound good on something else see if there is any sort of EQ or better media player for your phone, it may not be the DAC/AMP but just really craptastic stock software.
