Update: Bottom row incompatible because of off center stems. The one I received was in decent shape, but some caps have a high gloss finish from a lot of wear.

I bought one.  Seller accepted my offer of $50 + shipping.  Anything lower than $50 will be rejected automatically.  I tried :)

Capslock doesn't fit for sure.  Spacebar should not fit either.

Nope, but this model has more of a match than most. Only 2 incompatible keys, instead of several. $50 isn't too bad of a price for 'lightly used' doubleshot set.

That board has MY switches in it, doesn't it? Blargh, why aren't any of the MX POS boards US ANSI?! :frusty: It would be perfect if it was MX based.

Yeah, the Control and ALT are Double Shot. This is a nice deal for anybody using a stock keyboard, looking for doubleshots. Let's hope they really are "Lightly Used"

Here you go Mr. Perfect - g80-8200hpbus
This is obviously the better deal if you want a decent actual keyboard, and not just the caps.

Thanks. Yes, that board was seriously tempting. According to the thread here though, it's using browns. If it was clears it wouldn't still be for sale. :hat:

Mr. Perfect, here's an 8113 that you might like?
May have clears, but there unfortunately isn't any way of finding out until you buy... or ask the seller, maybe.

In Ripster's wiki about cherry keys, it says MY keycaps may not be fully compatible with MX, do you know if they fit well? Cause I got a new MY switch keyboard with doubleshots too but then I read that on the wiki and was like "doh"

On a side note do doubleshots make the key easiesr to press because they are heavier? In theory they are like 1g/55g but still would like to know if it "feels" lighter to press?

It's so weird that all of the G80s on ebay lately have the ISO enter. I picked one up a while ago, ended up selling it because I didn't like cherry browns, but it was ANSI.

[ Attachment Invalid Or Does Not Exist ] 21218

Though, as you can see, even the relabelable (is that a word?) keys were double shots:

[ Attachment Invalid Or Does Not Exist ] 21219

It was a G80-8113, but I haven't seen another like it on ebay in a long time. I think I only paid $30 shipped for it.

Edit: Here we go: http://cgi.ebay.com/CHERRY-MULTIBOARD-V2-G80-8113-G80-8113LUVEU-2-/110687654495?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item19c57f925f
That's the closest, and it's only lasered. And about 5 times the price. But like mine was, it's USB.

If I had any interest in Cherry MX based keyboards, I would have. But I don't own a single one, and the latest attempt to have one I thought was worth owning fell apart on me. So I likely won't have any in the future, either. Buckling springs and topres, all the way for me.

I do like it, I have one at home. :thumb: The main draw back with it is the goofed up navigation cluster, which is why I'm looking for a nice board with clears and a standard layout. theferenc's US ANSI version is tempting just for the US style enter key(I keep hitting the ISO enter on the extreme left edge, where the ANSI enter would be). Maybe a G80-8200 with the US ANSI layout will turn up some time.

But like mine was, it's USB.

Don't quote me on this, but I believe all of the PS/2 POS boards use the ISO Enter, while USB boards use the ANSI Enter.

Yeah, besides it having browns, which I don't like, the touch pad was in the way a lot. Wasn't a huge fan of that, honestly.

That kinda makes sense, since that was also they only G80 USB POS keyboard I could find on ebay, as well.

Can you confirm it was 2KRO? I read somewhere on this forum that all the 8000 series boards are NKRO. I know the 8113 is.

Apparently the seller ships FedEx regardless of the options displayed. While not a problem for many it is for me. I will probably never see mine and it will get sent back since FedEx in my area are incompetent retards who do not knock, ring, or read signs that tell them to leave packages. I also can not elect to pick up FedEx packages as they claim there are no eligible pick up locations for my address. There are 2 FedEx stores within walking distance. I can not tell enough how much I hate FedEx.

I feel for you.  my local FedEx Ground old map data from early 2000 Rand McNally that never updated their map.  After 10 years they finally can deliver to my home.  Before I had to drive 1.5 hours to their warehouse to get my stuff.  Meanwhile FedEx 2nd day never had any problem.  I still avoid FedEx whenever I can.  Federal Express, FedEx Home, FedEx Ground are all different, almost unrelated businesses that operate separately.

Only the PS/2 POS boards are NKRO, the USB ones are all 2KRO.

Also, going from the pics, those keys are shiny as hell.

So I am new around here and weighing options for getting a set of doubleshots.  I read that any Cherry POS keyboard with an H in its model number will have doubleshots.  Is that true?  So, e.g.,

http://cgi.ebay.com/Point-Sale-Keyboard-Cherry-G81-8000-HPBUS-2-/180656218361

will, but not

http://cgi.ebay.com/G81-8000LPDUS-Cherry-POS-Keyboard-USED-/260597290225

?

Thanks ripster.  So is there a way to tell for a particular model whether it will or not?  Or is it just years of experience giving you a sense?  Also, all the Cherry doubleshots I've seen so far have been white-on-black.  Do black-on-white Cherries exist?

After a lot of hassle i was finally able to arrange pickup. The entire bottom row on mine was pad printed with off center stems, a major disappointment. The one I received was in good shape with only some minor shine on a few keys most notable tab, e, r, n, m, and backspace and most of the numpad, which is irrelevant for my tenkeyless. Now only to get a matching bottom row...

Damn it.  I remember reading Ripster's post in the wiki on off-enter front row caps, and I still fell for this.  The front row is useless.  The only thing new is the right long shift.  I already took the caps of, dental tablete'd them, and threw away the keyboard.  I think I am going to sell the a-z, 0-9, and the Fn keys.  I have 2 sets of black double shots already.  I don't need another set.
