Modding the left shift key on my Deck Black Switch.
« on: Sun, 17 July 2011, 02:05:07 »
Hey. I am looking to maybe turn my left shift on my Deck Legend - ToXic into a ghetto red or something. I find it too hard to press in-game when I crouch. No, I will not change it to another key.

It does not feel natural when I push against it and I don't get a very good press and my pinky hurts. Even though I do good on it, I would like a change if possible. I want it to feel looser and be linear. I love everything else about the black switchs, though.

Anyay, does the ghetto red sound about right for what I would want? Is this even possible with this keyboard?

Can someone tell me what to order and do so I could have this? Also, is there a way to make the caps lock key kind of clickey? That is not really a problem but I like the way it feels on my Unicomp when I use it. Caps lock is my prone in games like DOD and COD.

Help me...thank you. :canada: (I am not from Canada...I don't know why I put that.)

You can replace the black springs with springs from blue or brown switches, but keep in mind that doing it's time expensive on a baclkit keyboard, i finished my xarmor in something like 6 hours, a deck can be even harder because they bend the led's terminals.

You can use a blue switch, better if coupled with a stronger spring, like the one from gray switches. Or you can just use a green switch.

Wow, that sucks. OK, is there a place or a guide where I can learn how to do something like that?

There's a soldering guide in the wiki, and various modded boards posted including mine and some BL82
