Send ONE of the following order codes to 7bit_R4:

PAYPAL - For people in the US only
PAYPALINT - For everyone outside of the US
PAYEUR - For europeans paying through SEPA

Instructions will follow.

And you don't have to worry about the Paypal collection problem, that is for US buyers only to worry about. :)

Any advantage to paying by IBAN/SEPA? My bank charges me £7 a transfer, and if your bank charges me itll be even more. where as paypal international only charge 4% don't they?

I think it does not make sense for you, so PayPal might be the better way. Escept that we still need someone to collect PayPal money!!!

Probably because the UK refuses to use the Euro.

Don't forget they both also sting you with a crappy exchange rate! :-(

Still better than having the Euro. :-)

Why did you pay for an operating system in the first place?
With windows you always have to pay for extras! It never comes complete.
Why should it be different when it comes to key caps?

Yes, but even in Ubuntu the menu key is a menu key.  For reasons that elude me, you decided to call it "meta."  To get a correctly labelled key, one would have to order WINDOWSTXT125 and pay a low-quantity fee.

I like meta. That way my keyboard is as non-PC-like as possible. Stupid "menu" key...

Never heard that a menu key might be useful. To get the menu, I just click into the background in most windowmanagers.

Also, what do you mean with "correctly labelled key"?

Also, what are low-quantity fees?

Is this the purple monkey dishwasher moment of this group buy? But it lead me to an interesting read about modifier key history and the Bucky bit.

I was also thinking about getting the WINDOWSTXT kit just to create SUPER HYPER META WIN.

Regardless, the key is there and by default it launches a context menu.  I'm sure a lot of people remap it, but its default function ought to be included in the standard key set.

"MENU" as opposed to "META".

With a response like that, is it any wonder I lost faith in this group buy?  You remind me of a child who, two seconds after he stops poking his sister, says, "What?  I'm not doing anything."

Just set F9 to Menu, but does not do much (as expected). It brings up some menu in Firefox, which is not really useful.

Don't get the child thing, BTW. The reason why this isn't comning forward right now is because we need at least one more to collect money.

There are no LQF anymore as 7bit stated multiple times. Hence his "childish" reply.

Why would you lose faith? Because you can't seem to stay on track with this GB?
You remind me of a child who asks his teacher a dumb question after it was answered/stated multiple times before in class. You guys all know that annoying kid from school...

He incorporates it in any message he sends.

So just send "aunisretbnépdotanui, estanursit, auidebépèotanuisrte" (or another random message) and he'll email you the list.

How can anyone "stay on track" with this group buy?  It has been completely farcical, with sets continually being modified and pricing rules constantly changing.  If there was a window of time between the elimination of low-quantity fees and the final deadline, it must have been very short.  When I was figuring out what I wanted and deciding whether it would be worth the cost, the low-quantity fee was definitely a consideration.  I could not have known it would be dropped at the last minute.

Don't know if this is a helpful suggestion at all, but would using bitcoins be a way to collect money. I haven't looked into this too much, but could everyone buy bitcoins, send them to 7bit, 7bit could sell them and pay SP?

Is the reason for a US money collector to get around the currency conversion fees? And does bitcoin help here? Just wondering.

How can anyone "stay on track" with this group buy? [...] I could not have known it (LQF) would be dropped at the last minute.
Well, I'm not an expert, but my guess would be reading. I didn't follow the whole thread, but I am pretty sure every change happened was documented in this thread. At least I "have stayed on track" from the point I sent out my order.
So missing out changes is most likely the fault of the (non)follower of this thread.
But then again, I ain't no expert!

He's not a bot, but he is a machine!

Seriously, if anyone can't be bothered to keep up with the thread, I have seen 7bit answer every question asked here regarding this GB. Can it get any easier than that? Just asking the GB organizer and getting a response?

bitcoin's value fluctuates way too much to be considered reliable.

Also, the bitcoin => dollar conversion is pretty shady too atm I believe.

Can you have the bot or whoever is in charge now shoot me a final invoice?  I paid 100% a week or two ago and would just like to see that so all I have to worry about is waiting every day by the mailbox.

edit: I am very wary of bitcoins, is there no other alternative?  Google wallet? Amazon payments?  In the next year I see two major improvements to the whole 'keycap enthusiast' sector and that is (1) solid looking cherry replica legends and (2) a better way to pay.

are there still ALPS keycaps available or were they on demand only? (or were they cancelled in this round?)

Don't think they existed in this round.  If there was any chat it didn't get very far.

What are the chances of getting SP to open a "GeekHack" PayPal account for this and then possibly other large sales?

Everyone that still needs to pay pays the PayPal account, SP sends you a spreadsheet with the list of payments to make sure everyone has paid.

Also, what if it gets locked?

Especially: What if it gets locked and they did not backup the money on a bank account?

Correct. I assumed that was understood since they are a business and are making a profit.  The problem we are facing is that we are private individuals and not making a profit, but as far as the IRS is concerned the money is "income" so taxes must be paid.

7bit, a solution is an idea you act upon.

I'll take up to about $17K of payments.  If three or more others will do the same, we can put this to bed.  I assume the outstanding amount is somewhat less than $70K  It just needs to be divided into <$20K chunks.  Paypals policy is that they send 1099-Ks to the IRS if your payments total $20,000.00 AND 200 transactions.  You can take, say, $30,000.00 if it's done in 199 or fewer transactions.
The transactions could be divided up by dollar amount or number of orders.  To get in trouble you have to meet both the dollar amount limit and the number of transactions limit.

I can't believe how complicated payment is.  Why is it this difficult for a company to accept money?

Because when someone places a large order with that company, and the invoice is for $70000, they don't want to receive your $200 payment, they want to be paid in full.

It is not the US income tax which is the problem, but PayPal itself. Then there is an accountin department which consists of just one person: Melissa.

I doubt she will do that. Someone (captain) asked for something like that before and got a negative response ...

That is the basic idea of a group buy.

If there is one more we can come quite close to what we need. There will be a payment from Biniaris becuase I've paid the switches from the Round 4 payments. Plus we already had around $16,000 paid and I can send some money, too.

Can't believe this gets stuck because we can't find a way to get the money order to SP. Reminds me in a book I've purchased from a Scottish dealer who asked for cash because anything else would've been too expensive, so I've sent a 10 EUR note for the book plus shipping.

I ask Melissa if it is OK that we send in cash!
