Best Game to test out your newkeyboard
« on: Sat, 06 August 2011, 13:54:32 »
I've been playing magicka a lot lately and I found it requires quite a bit of keys to play. and i find myself hitting them constantly and really quickly.

for example to trigger some quick spells that come to mind you have to type these key sequences:
eqrdass
or qfasa
qrsrqeqr
qfffqffq
qrqrqrqrd
etc justto name a few

but even with smaller key combos you find yourself typing fast:
say you want to teleport asa then cast Time warp re+space, then poor grease  on the grown with qdw and set it on fire...

you guys know any other games that make good use of your keyboard?

N will provide strong proof of how well your muscles/mind know where the activation point is on your keyboard.  Took me a while to get back to where I was at with rubber domes after switching to Cherry browns.

No wonder your numbers are off.

There is a game called Stepmania that apparently requires heavy keyboard usage:

"look, I put my head through the wall"  HAHAHAHA  Too bad when that happened, he missed the stud in the wall.  Then he probably wouldn't try that again and get it through his head he might need to work on self control realizing the game just might have a a/v sync setting for LCD's lag compared to CRT's

I don't know any game that's going to test your keyboard more than starcraft, especially if you can keep your APM fairly high

you must not play very many games

starcraft doesn't exactly make much use of simultaneous key presses and is largely focused on only one half of the keyboard

Typing of the Dead. Or TotD2, if you can find it. 2 is a lot more recent and much better looking, but was a Japan only release.

I personally do not find this funny, this kid has physiological issues.  Probably needs to get off the phycotic inducing SSRI'S (anti-depressants) or stopped taking them cold turkey.

In case you were wondering, that is not drywall aka sheet rock.  It's a solid concrete wall that a bullet wouldn't phase.

Sorry for de-railing, back on topic.

I feel like if you really wanted to test out ALL your keys you would just go to any typing site and just type... lol, but MOST games never require much use of even more than half the keyboard unless it's a typing game.  SC2, like most RTS and FPS games out there utilizes mostly your left home area, but also includes a few keys on the right side of the keyboard.  SC2 is also great test simply due to the amount of double tapping you do.  Plus it gives you a feel of if you can access your keys in a quick manner and test actuation pressure during REAL gameplay - this is different than typing with your hands properly set on home row since in gaming situations this isn't often the case either.

It would be really stupid for a developer to sell a game which requires a NKRO keyboard.

I played Magicka on my Poker, 6KRO was indeed useful for a few spell combos.

I occasionally need 7KRO playing the Tony Hawk games with the keyboard. It uses both hands, so a pretty good test.
