Going for my 2th Mech Keyboard
« on: Sun, 07 August 2011, 19:52:44 »
Hi guys,

It's been a while since the last time I was around the forums. My job is giving me more income as it requires more time and my sexy Filco LE 104 with Red Switches has been with me ever since it came all the way down to Bolivia. Sadly, I started to notice the keyboard got some worn marks due all the travels I made with it (went by bus all the way to Santiago de Chile and back), and I take it to my office and back home from monday to friday, so... Since I'm making a lot more on my job, and I get the chance a friend from California can bring me a KB, I'll get my 2th mech keyboard for the office, and keep my Filco with Red Switches at home(for gaming mostly).

So, right now I'm watching at the Filcos available on Amazon and the options come down to:

  • Filco Ninja M2 104 keys with Brown Switches
  • Filco M2 104 keys with Brown Switches
  • Filco M2 87 keys with Blue Switches

Ideally I would love to get a Ninja(or rather Otakus) M2 with 104 Blue Switches but there's none available right now, not even a full sized keyboard with Blue's.

I'm also considering to get a DAS Ultimate, with blank keycaps, but I'm kind of afraid of it getting too many scratches.

So what would you advice me to get? any of you who already have the Filco LE with Red Switches, what would be your choice?

Thanks in advance!
Zet

Amazon is listing them with blues now, even a sexy metallic blue cased one.  I was just looking today to calibrate my pricing on offers on used ones...  Maybe you could get someone in the US to send you one, if it's not too expensive?

Personally I would stick with browns or clears for an office, but if your coworkers don't mind, I prefer the blues to browns.

I'm probably not the guy to listen to though, as I have a definite preference for tactile switches and heavy springs, and you already said that you like reds.
Filco Majestouch-2 with Cherry Corp. doubleshot keys - Leopold Tenkeyless Tactile Force with Wyse doubleshots - Silicon Graphics 9500900 - WASD V1 - IBM Model M 52G9658 - Noppoo Choc Pro with Cherry lasered PBT keycaps - Wyse 900866-01 - Cherry G80-8200LPBUS/07 - Dell AT101W - several Cherry G81s (future doubleshot donors) (order of current preference) (dang I have too many keyboards, I really only need two)

Second 2nd * yeah, my bad. lols.

I most likely going to get one from a store, I'm just not feeling like getting one used from someone else... specially because it's a lot of money involved in this and I cannot return it if something isn't working correctly.

Not sure if this helps you at all, but I made a thread asking about Ninja Blues. Long story short, it could be a few months.

Thanks for letting me know about this man. Sadly, I'm running out of time, and I had to make a quick pick, since my friend is leaving California soon, so I ended up getting the Majestouch2 Ninja with Browns, 104keys. I'm still thinking, if I get the chance to have someone bring me another, I'll try to get the Otaku with blue switches...

Still, thanks for your help :)

PS: what made me reconsider Browns over Blues, was the clicky noise, not because my co-workers, because I couldn't care less about them, since I'm getting my own office soon, but because I usually get on a call with different clients, and them might get bothered by the noise.

wtf lol, the ninjas ran out of stock even having my order placed :((((

So after reconsidering and avoid thinking in the people I get in the phone with, since this doesn't happen that much, I'm now getting a Majestouch 2 TKL with Blue Switches xD
