It is weird. The first time I smelled my (Dolch/Cherry G80-1800) keyboard, I was instantly reminded of the smell of the IBM XTs that I used in my first computer class back in '91. I suppose that the smell comes from circuit boards and plastic.

Another keyboard I have (bought from another Geekhacker a month ago) still smells like some kind of perfume. Some kind of over-perfumed dish washing liquid he used to clean it, I suppose. I may have to disassemble it and clean it again, just to get the smell out. I am over-sensitive to perfume -- in the worst case, I get migraine.

Seriously, who sniffs on their keyboards? In any case, once it starts smelling (a) noticeably and (b) of anything else than usual-stuff-landing-in-keyboards (hair, lint, dandruff), there may be reason for concern.
