One of my blue switches doesn't click
« on: Tue, 09 August 2011, 17:15:55 »
I have just received a second hand majestouch (blue) of ebay. I have been using it all day but I have just realized the tab button doesn't click but still works. Is there anything I can do to fix this problem?

Take the cap off, then press the stem down and shoot compressed air into the switch, and maybe it'll work.
If not, you would have to desolder the switch, open it up, and reassemble.

Likely the white slider is blocked by something, you can try to clean the switch with canned air and or with a spray wet contact cleaner.

If doesn't work you have to desolder the switch and open it to see what happened.

If still doesn't works you have to replace it with a brand new switch or swap it with a less used one, like print screen or pause.

I tried to spray compressed air into the  switch but that didn't work. I don't have a soldering iron so I will have to borrow a mates (tomorrow it's 11:30pm and I don't thing he would be impressed if I knocked over now). Will just have to look over the wiki to find out how to take the switch apart.
Thanks guys for your advice.

It's pretty easy just be careful with the spring (don't loose it when opening the switch)

I cannot find a guide on how to take the keyboard apart. Is there one on here that I have missed or any pointers?
Thanks.

I had this issue once. It turned out that a small hair got lodged into an opening in the switch at the bottom, which I was able to pull out with a tweezers.

Says alot about the design of the Blue Cherry really...
