If any game developer should make a Dota game, it would be Valve. The games as a service model that they've adopted just works effortlessly with a highly competitive multiplayer game. Looking at the current state of this game is just what it's going to be like on the initial release. Considering that they've stated that this game is going to be given the "Team Fortress 2 treatment", we can expect this game to evolve from "DotA with a fresh coat of paint." Plus, IceFrog, the designer of this game and the DotA lead since the departure of Guinsoo and that other guy that I could care less about, pretty much turned DotA into an e-sport due to the insane balance that he gave the game.

Valve has this fecal matter in the bag.

Valve should make a pretty decent game. I am curious as to how well it will be balanced and what they are going to do to the characters (i.e. introduce new ones).

Well they are porting the old heros in dota 2 and will probably continue to develop new heros.

I've been playing the beta for a couple days. Valve went a little overboard on trying to keep the exact mechanic feel of the original DoTA, imo. I went back to league.

oh man i would love to have a dota 2 key! :(  Well I don't see whats wrong with dota 2.  It was meant to be exactly the same mechanics  with some refinements in graphics and user interface.  The were just addressing the issues they had using the wc3 engine(no custom keys, various restrictions, bugs that needed hard work arounds) by working with valve.

there was this generous dude who let me borrow his account for a day, i really liked it. granted its exactly the same mechanics, items and gameplay as dota 1, but that's why i dig it.

I got an invite from a friend yesterday and was able to try it out for the first time.  Some parts are really really awesome, but I have to say a few things just feel a bit off.  I play a lot of league of legends as well as heroes of newerth, and immediately after starting up dota 2 for the first time the camera panning felt very strange.  There are some sensitivity and acceleration settings for it that I'll have to mess around with, but I'm not sure why they made it feel so very different from both HoN and LoL on default settings.  The other thing is that character movements in general feel sluggish for some reason.  It's hard to explain but something about the game just feels delayed or not snappy in some way.

These are things I can forgive, but they definitely curtailed my excitement a bit when I first encountered them.  I'm still planning on enjoying this game though, and I hope everyone trying to get in manages to get a key.

I'll be playing this tonight, so I can't really comment on all these settings just yet.

But IIRC the slugish movement is done on purpose to mimic the poor AI/feel of the Warcraft3 Engine. They wanted the game to feel and act almost exactly like Dota 1. I think the same applies for "bugs".

It probably won't come to ps3.  Who knows it is a  steam game though so it is not impossible.  It would be really complex to compress all those controls for ps3.
