Yep, supposedly some dude somehow ended up with an android touchpad and was selling it on ebay.  Unclear if it's a scam or a development unit that got out, etc.

But how long until Honeycomb on a Touchpad? I know that once I get one, I will be for sure keeping it as WebOS until Honeycomb is on it. And even then I may stick with WebOS.

Get this:
So I went to BB yesterday morning; I heard they were going to get some in. Manager says that their truck arrives late afternoon, they unload in evening, come back tomorrow morning.

So this morning I show up and there's a big crowd. Some folks walk right in, some don't. What's the deal? BB decided to hand out vouchers at 3-freaking-AM and if you don't have a voucher then you don't get a shot at one until 11 am. How would someone know about the voucher thing? Manager: "I guess either they saw it driving by or heard from an employee."

I disliked that place before and now I despise it.
I'm back.

They are bidding on it as a joke, and simply won't pay is my guess. What are the consequences, a warning message from eBay if they don't pay?

I ordered one online from Best Buy for 50% off plus 20% off when buying 4 qualifying items.  I'm not sure it's going to ship but hope so.  If it doesn't ship I can probably live without it, I'm actually a little concerned about the long term impact on the battery if it's being charged much of the time sitting in the touchstone - I've read this is really not good for the long term life of batteries.

I got a wireless keyboard in the same purchase which I was already able to pick up.  I was sceptical about the keyboard but actually like it fairly well.  The problem I have now is that it begs for a mouse or other pointing device but nothing like that is seemingly supported as of now.  I'll just have to get used to touching the screen although this is far from ergonomic when propped up in "monitor" position.  I saw some from various vendors on Amazon but in the $60-$70 range, not full price but not as cheap as they were.  If you watch HP's Home & Office store some more might show up, probably for a better price.

There's still like 40 of these nearby me at Best Buy. Not sure if it would be worth the shipping cost for me to send you one though.

Really?  Wow, I didn't know about this.  Hmm..  I guess only time will tell.  It sure makes it convenient to charge though since I don't like fiddling with that charging cable trying to plug it to the bottom of the TouchPad.

And for only $39, I picked it up right away before someone else snatch it up. lol

So maybe it is just an urban legend but is consistent with what I've seen with cell phone and laptop batteries.  Are you saying this is not valid?  I'm really not sure to be honest.

Here the cellphones are mainstream since the end of 90's and in those years I read anything and the opposite of anything.

Every phone shop still suggest to charge the phone for 12/14h the first time, even if this is pointless since the introduction of the NI-Mh batteries, and anyone still suggest a different technique to improve the battery life.

The truth is that all depends on the battery quality, and on the logic of the charging circuitry.

Back to the the question, if can be a good idea to remove the battery on a notebook used as desktop replacement, on a tablet used mainly in mobility, due only valid sentence is charge it when needed, charge it whenever you want and pray that Palm engineers did a good work.

^its the best accessory you can buy for it.

I thought i wouldnt want one either when I first got my iPad but with a anti-glare screen protector on it, the difference becomes night and day in terms of not just viewing but it also feels so much smoother when touching the screen, of course not having to wipe off fingerprint every other minute is also a plus

Oh yeah, I hate wiping it down daily.  This thing is a fingerprints magnet. lol  Ok, I'll take a look at some screen protector for it.

My first Geekhack message typed on my touchpad using the Bluetooth keyboard.  This keyboard isn't bad.  Not great, but for the teeny thing it is, it beats the onscreen keyboard which I struggle with.  Supposedly HP had more touchpads coming in that were going to be available through the online home & office store which hasn't happened.  What has happened is continued reports of SMB back orders being fulfilled so my inference from that is additional units were delivered but first priority was given to fulfilling the SMB back orders.  That's my long winded way of saying I think heedpantsnow your chances may be good of getting that order eventually.

FYI, the bluetooth keyboard is one accessory that's still in stock at least at many online places and decent prices.  Not as good as a cherry mechanical but better than a pane of glass.  If you google "hp touchpad bluetooth keyboard review" you'll find very postive reviews for it.  And in case you're wondering, I went back and finished this post on my laptop but the first paragraph was done on the touchpad.

No luck :*(  They didn't have any Touchstones. I think they just want people to think they have it to get people in the store. And you can't check to see which store has it like Bestbuy. But all was not lost. I got some delicious Chick-fil-A next door to Office Depot.

GOSH I love that restaurant.  I'm convinced that some of the nicest, hard working people in the whole world work at that place.  It's probably the #1 thing I miss being overseas.

Curiously my HP SMB order status says this:

Order #:   0306xxxxx                        Order Date/Time:    08/25/2011   03:15:46 AM

Customer #xxxxx                                Estimated Ship Date:    08/28/2011

Customer PO #:    444xxxx                Estimated Delivery Date:    08/28/2011

Associated Order #:    000000000        Credit Approval Date:   08/25/2011

...
Configuration:    No   Ship Via:    ECON VALUE FRT
    Express Config:   No     Carrier Info:
             Ship Complete :    No

Sale Amount:    $198.00
Tax Amount:    $17.82
Total Amount:    $254.26
Credit Terms:    CREDIT CARD
Credit Status:    Credit Approved

So the ship date and delivery date are the same?  Weird, huh?

I have a 16gb touchpad I have had for a week now Its cool but I find myself always picking up my mbp instead. I have a hhkb lite 2 and would really like to upgrade to a hhkb pro 2 and be willing to trade it and some cash for the keyboard. I have the box and everything that came with it and a Incase neoprene case for it that will come with it. pm me with any offer.

I also have a IBM model M (blue Logo) that needs some help that I wouldnt mind throwing into the deal. I ran aquakey test and when you hit shift it presses shift & z.

sold the touchpad thx guys.

I don't need it, but surely someone here will jump on this!
I'm back.
