Cute. It will probably cost $1000+ if it is ever released.

In the meantime, you can buy portable 1TB hard drives for a little over a hundred bucks. I desperately want solid-state to displace spinning disks for high-volume storage, but I fear it will be a long wait.

If you want the Ironkey because of the encryption have you looked at Truecrypt? I use it for personal things. I don't have any really secret stuff or enything. I just wouldn't want anyone poking around my stuff if I lost one of my carry-around-devices. I haven't ever used a Ironkey so I don't know how they interact with the system. Truecrypt might not be as effortless to interact with but it's not too much of a hassle, I think.

Yes I have played with truecrypt before, but recently work purchased us ironkey's and they are pretty neat well worth the money. they feel like a block of aluminum. I sent one through the washing machine because I forgot it was in my pocket and it just came out nice and shiny.

I read a test where they subjected usb sticks to various daily hazards; washing machine, freezer, driven over by a car, and so on. They all survived the tests. Finally they nailed them to a tree, from one of them a professional data recovery company were still able to salvage some data. I think it is probably not too hard zapping them with static electricity though. They should probably have included tumble drying them with some cats in the test...

This 2 TB pendrive is Schrödinger-ware. They only have a 16 GB version out, with any higher capacities to be released when USB 3.0 is final...

I didn't realize until I read this article that USB 3.0 wasn't an agreed upon standard yet. Especially with all the USB 3.0 stuff out there. I wonder what agency sets those standards. is it a branch of the 802? I thought they only handled network stuff, or maybe they ment industry standard.
