So I find myself obsessively trying to refine and improve this keyboard. I like buckling springs, so it is based on a Model M. It is tenkeyless and the same width as a SSK, but with 8 more keys. Now I’m thinking of making a custom membrane and controller. The controller would be an Aikon or something based on the Teensy++. My idea for the membrane is to print the shape and traces on an 11 x 17 transparency, then cut it and re-draw the traces with a conductive ink pen. Has anyone ever heard of anyone trying this?

This looks cool.  Would it be possible to make a regular M into a mini?

Sure. it is actually easier than what i did. I got the idea from Daniel Beaver who did it with a standard 101 key M. The end product is about a half inch wider and deeper than a "factory" SSK.
