Ergonomic PS2 mouse

I'm looking for an ergonomic PS2 corded mouse to replace my IntelliMouse Explorer 3.0A. Yes, I know the IntelliMouse is technically ergonomic, but I'm looking for something more ergonomic -- a greater incline, possibly vertical -- that will hopefully reduce the stress on my wrist. Many of the ergonomic mice I see today are either wireless or USB-only.

Why not wireless? They're not likely to work with my KVMs.
Why PS2? My KVMs are PS2 only.
Why not buy a new KVM? I know, I know. Maybe someday, but not yet. Besides, I prefer PS2.

Platform: PC
OS: Windows XP

Anybody have any suggestions?

USB to PS2 plug thingie? The green ones? Purple ones work too, I guess.

I have heard of PS/2->USB converters but never of USB->PS/2 converters ...
There are passive adapters, but they are intended for keyboards that talk both protocols but have only one cable.

I use an Evoluent VerticalMouse 3 at work, but it is USB only. Apparently, there is supposed to be a version that supports both USB and PS/2 or just PS/2 but I have not found any details about. My USB mouse does not work with passive keyboard adapters: I tested it, and then I read in the manual that it does not ...

Exactly. All of the mice I've looked at are USB only. Many specifically say that they won't work with a PS/2 adapter.

I'm looking to see if anyone can recommend any vertical/ergonomic* mice that support PS/2.

(* That is, more ergonomic than an IntelliMouse Explorer.)

Well, I have an idea... Some of the currently cheapest mice are native PS/2. Try A4tech. Some of them have the very nice, no-nonsense old-school shape. The packaging is likely going to be such that could easily take them out of the box to try, without needing to break any plastic foil. And the sales clerk will likely be happy to pull it out for you anyway. Then you can check if the shape lies well in your hand.

Another option is really noname, like mice you buy for $2 at the mall. I've bought some mice this way, especially back in the time PS/2 was the norm.

Alternatively, you probably could cut up a USB mouse and replace the USB controller with a PS/2 one if you're into soldering. I'd never try but other posters do it all the time.

It really depends on the chipset of the mouse to see if it will support ps/2.  I have a USB mouse which works with USB adapter.

When you say "ergomouse", this is usually the first one that comes to mind. PS/2 and USB, but I don't know how well the sensor performs.

The 3M "joystick mouse" looks like it would take some getting used to and that I might have accuracy issues.
Plus I don't want to feel like I'm two years old.
