I've been exploring the concept of combining a keyboard and mouse in a single functional device (in the vein of the
Combimouse but different). What I have in mind though for the keyboard part, is mechanical switches. The Combimouse shows that even with all those keys and the inclusion of a battery, the weight of the mouse stays around 110g. The design I have in mind is close to completion but what I need to know before I continue is whether it's possible to have
mechanical switches on a Combimouse-style device and have the weight not exceed a certain amount... 200g is the absolute maximum for a mouse, wouldn't you agree? My Razer Deathadder is somewhere in the 110-120g range and can't imagine using something heavier, at least not for gaming...
I thought I could look this all up on the respective websites of key switch makers but it seems that, because light weight is no concern at all for a keyboard except for a scissor switches keyboard, there is no information on how much a switch (Cherry MX key module for example) weighs. And even equipped with this information, it's possible
all keyboard switches are heavier than is necessary because they were never designed with concerns such as mine...
