The Raspberry Pi

Have any of you heard of this little $35 wonder? For those of you who don't know, the Raspberry Pi is an ultra low cost ARM based Linux computer primarily targeted towards teaching computer science/programming at the school level both in the developed and developing world. Sounds like an awesome idea. What are your thoughts? I personally can't wait for it to come out.

128MB or 256MB of SDRAM
OpenGL ES 2.0
1080p30 H.264 high-profile decode
Composite and HDMI video output
USB 2.0
SD/MMC/SDIO memory card slot
General-purpose I/O
Optional integrated 2-port USB hub and 10/100 Ethernet controller
Open software (Ubuntu, Iceweasel, KOffice, Python)

Not bad for credit card sized computer that costs the same as a set of keycaps. Should be available in November.

Looks pretty good, actually.

I also note it's about the same cost as an arduino.

Here's why I want one:
1. cheap
2. network
3. linux.

I was planning on getting a refurb seagate NAS for ~20 to run linux on for a network sound thing, it's put audio out over USB to a decent DAC. But I think I'd rather have this.

They also have a model for $25. nice!
The model A (no ethernet onboard) draws 1W, and can probably run from batteries quite well.

Good find. I'll wait for Nov when they come out. I feel like this'd be a great platform for embedded systems or anything hackable.
