My parents and younger brothers have gone camping for a week and I have the whole house to myself for a week. :) It is going to be pretty cool.

When I had the house to myself, my hairdresser, of all people, whispered to me "did you bring some girls over?"

LOL

Right now I'm on a SAW movie marathon, because I have younger brothers and don't often get to watch those kinda movies with them around. Just finished the 3rd one and am about to start the 4th. Aside from that I'm pretty much just going to be playing k-pop loudly and playing a lot of Starcraft 2. Will probably have a couple of friends over through the week too. No parties or anything like that though.

not for nuttin about saw franchise being... ok... they actually build a co-herant and plausible story plot for 7 movies, i mean you'd think they'd give up trying to tie everything together by the 4th movie, but no... it has it's... well i guess that all really matches up "moments".

Yeah, I'd already seen the first 3 previously but decided I'd rewatch them and go for the rest. I'm not really sure why I'm watching them though, I think it is mainly because there are so many of them and it's something I don't often get to do.

EDIT: I am so happy! I just discovered that they have a k-pop music show on one of the channels here in Sydney on Sunday mornings. Enjoyed 2 hours of back to back HD MVs on TV! :D Watched while eating breakfast.

I remember when my parents left me alone for weekends. I mostly just ate more than usual, watched tons of movies and.. did other things.

I think once I managed to watch 7 full movies on TV in one day.. Good times.

@ Lanx - I doubt it, but it is certianly becoming less and less of a niche thing. Oneday it will sit on the same level as saying you like metal or rock or country or whatever. Nobody will think twice about when someone says they listen to k-pop.

@Playtrumpet - Haha, nice yeah although it is hard for me to eat more than I already do. I have a pretty fast metabolism paired with gyming and so I tend to eat 6 "small meals" and a snack or two added in here and there. Yesterday I managed 6 movies, just about to start the 7th SAW now.

You know... if you move out of your parents' house, you can experience this feeling every day!

This advice from your Uncle Itln isn't just for the OP but the rest of you cellar-dwellers, too.

Just in general, if you have free time to watch things (and not work =P), movies are great, but full seasons of SHOWS really can fill your time. I recommend shows like Dexter and Shameless (US).

Yeah, I know that. But I'm not quite up on my feet financially yet (what with only finishing school recently). And my parents have told me they won't charge me any rent to stay at home while I'm at college because I'm paying a lot of it myself.

Yeah seasons of shows are great! I have all 8 seasons of 24 that I got for my 18th birthday and have finished the first 4. I'm tempted to marathon through the 5th one. But at the same time, I do like the way you can enjoy a TV show in smaller chuncks whereas a movie has to be finished all at once. I'm currently watching the "Last Summer" trilogy of slasher movies and after that I am planning on catching some of the original Friday the 13th and Nightmare on Elm Street movies. For some reason I feel drawn to movies where people are helplessly killed alone when I am staying in the house alone...

I recommend Pawn Shops.  Then watch Home Alone in case your parents notice the missing items.

lol ripster, the Home Alone movies are a pretty good laugh

It's a friend of mine who kinda invited himself over to bunk on studying when he heard I had the house alone.

haha yeah, and then I am completely fine as long as I keep some sound going in the house like the TV or music, but just before I go to bed each night and switch everything off, in the last 5 minutes where I am switching lights off and making sure doors are locked I get this really chilling feeling. And yet I do it again and again.

Why not leave your PC on 24 hours a day so you can go to sleep to the comforting drone of the cooler and case fans?

That works with comps with slower fans (love the droning timbre on the old computers especially).

But not when you scale into the more powerful computers; like my one IBM that has (I think) nine fans:
5x 80mm
1x 120mm
2x 95mm
1x 60mm

I don't really have trouble getting to sleep, it is just those last 5 minutes while I'm up but the house is silent that it is creepy. But I have a pretty rigid sleep schedule and so I usually fall asleep within 5 minutes and feel just right when I wake up.

You're lucky if you can fall asleep that quickly.

So you're not inviting girls over? That's too bad. Girls are pretty fun.

(Although I can understand if you want to have some personal time alone; there are some times I just don't want to be around with anyone; even a bunch of girls).

Yeah, I used to really battle to get to sleep and would toss and turn for hours on end, but a few months back I figured out I'd been oversleeping. So I slept for 5 hours a night for a week and it felt like I was getting just too little so I switched to 6 hours a night and it has been good since. The key is to be extremely rigid with it. Go to bed exactly the same time every night and get up exactly the same time every day and after 3-4 weeks you are set well into it.

As far as girls go, I'm not really on those kinda terms with any of the girls I know who would be able to come over. Most of my good female friends are currently traveling or have moved overseas and whatnot. But at the same time, I am just really enjoying solitude while I have it because end of year is coming up and I know once November hits all my friends start doing things so I'm busy almost every weekend until after New Years and often come out of that feeling socially exhausted.
