Difference between Majestouch 1 and 2?
« on: Sun, 18 September 2011, 13:46:21 »
Hi there

Been looking at getting a Filco Majestouch and noticed that there are just Majestouch and Majestouch 2's. What are the differences between these?

I can't seem to find the Majestouch 2 with blue switches (without being the tenkeyless model) in the UK (or anywhere really). Does it exist?

Thanks
Crooksy

It's available on Amazon.  I'd post the link but I get some weird moderator approval thing.

Majestouch 2 is a touch faster (1000hz USB polling rate) and has through hole pins for "Better Feel" (although I'm not feeling any difference I'm sure there is somebody on some keyboard forum that does).  English instructions along with Japanese instructions.

In other words, not much.

Didnt keyboards feature a mechanism that adds 3-5 ms delay between keypress registrations to prevent registering not real key presses? Because if I am not mistaken, 1000hz polling rate is often times polling every 1 ms which doesnt make sense if I am correct about my previous statement. Is there something that I am missing out / got wrong?

It looks good on the spec sheet and helps AFTER the controller debouncing firmware kicks in.  Like I said, I certainly wouldn't bother to upgrade from Gen 1 to Gen 2.  I think of it more like Topre RealForces coming out with different colored keys and charging more for it.

Sure I suppose thats how marketing works. Do you think there is any benefit from using the USB connection instead of the PS/2? I know that the PS2 ones is IRQ based and doesnt use up a usb port... Also it reminds me of the good old days :P

English instructions.

Would you describe it as "English" or "Engrish" instructions?? lol Had a look at their english translated website and their literal Jap-English translation is quite amusing...

As an Asian-Australian of Chinese decent, I take offence at your assumption that "Asian" means Japanese!  Good day to you sir..... I SAID GOOD DAY!!!  ;)

Yeah same in Australia, we assume the same... But I prove to be the exception.  Oh the shame...

Hey Mate, what do you reckon about the new Ducky SHines coming out?  I was deciding about that and the Filco Ninja Blues....  Is Ducky still using a black switch for their space bar or have they listen to suggestions and kept them all them same now?

So not much difference then. Well as I can't seem to find the Majestouch 2 with blue switches, I may as well just go for the standard Majestouch. When it comes back in stock of course.
