I am new to Geekhack, I just got my first mech keyboard and am very excited to learn more about this passion.

I just got a Daskeyboard Professional Silent S, with brown switches- pretty sweet so far :)

I am currently trying to figure out how to use functionflip with this keyboard.

Welcome to GH!

What passion? It's a fetish :-) and an expensive one at that.

Glad you got your first mechanical, when I got mine not too long ago, I remember trying to find things to type

Ok, So i am on iOS X, snow leopard.. I am trying to program my Function keys.. I have Quicksilver and function flip.. I have F1-F4 figured out, and 5-8 are in control of itunes stuff..

I can't get my volume up and volume down to work.. And I cant get f12 to be eject.. Which sucks cause I can't do the quick sleep hotkeys anymore..

Anybody have any advice/ suggestions.

I use ControllerMate for all of my key function/reprogramming. Try it out and if you like it, I did manage to *cough* FIND a way to get access to the full version for myself (no limit to number of functions) so I'm sure I could do the same for you.

You could just do everything in terminal. Plus think of all the added typing you can do on your new precious keyboard. I am also an OS X abuser as well but I don't particularly care about a lot of those function keys as I don't really use any of them.

ok, i was thinking about this point and arguing with myself, and the better half i guess won... verdict being that short cuts like mute and volume control are vital, and should be available with the least keystrokes.

Now talk about almost any other function, and you have my attention..  I would like to use the mouse less and less...
