Logitech G100

Lurking around the internet I just found an interesting new mouse coming from Logitech:

http://www.logitech.com.cn/zh-cn/mice-pointers/mice/devices/8397

There is a Thread in OCN where I found some links and pictures:

http://www.overclock.net/mice/1113261-logitech-g100.html

Quote
Tracking Resolution: 1000dpi, 1750dpi, 2500dpi (dpi button can be selected)
Image Processing: 2.4 megapixels / second
Maximum acceleration: 23G
Maximum speed: 160 inches / second (in the most suitable surface)
Static friction coefficient - .14
Mouse Weight: 80 grams
Connection: 30 grams
Left and right buttons durable life: 10 million hits
Feet: 250 km

He opened the 2 mice:

We can see here some pics in detail:

http://detail.zol.com.cn/picture_index_708/index7074631.shtml

http://watchmonoblog.blog71.fc2.com/blog-entry-1546.html

I was looking into the Zowie Mico but for me is a NO GO since I already have the Kinzu which have problems with his 1600dpi too.

Unfortunately this is for the Asian Market but I hope that some Asian members would be able to hel us if we finally want it.

Sorry for my ignorance but what makes this standard mouse so interesting?

:ranger: If a mouse with a correctly placed (center) optical sensor with no prediction/angle snapping/correction/drift control (*as per manufacturer's claims, seeing is believing though) is "standard", then this is already the 2nd standard mouse ever released (the first being DeathAdder 3G in 2007). They are flooding the market with these standard mice aren't they! :clap2:

In China it costs the same as G300. They seem to share the same sensor but otherwise G100 would seem the obvious choice between the 2.

The size/form is not for me but I might pick one up for travel use.

I know plenty of people who love the old G1/G3 mice from Logitech, they'd love this thing. Hell, I'd probably get one too.

Hmm, I'll be definitely getting one if they are gonna sell these in hong kong. But I still don't really understand whats so special with this mouse.
Seems like a pretty good clawgrip mouse though.

Huh? So do G1, G3, G5, G400 & MX518, to name but a few. What matters more is the material & mechanism.

Not a Logitech fan by a longshot but have to admit they look like getting a few things right with their new products.

I believe the "smoothness" was referring to the surface of the wheel, not its mechanism.

Judging the from fact that Logitech continues to sell upgraded G1 in Asia long after it being discontinued else where around the world, I am speculating G100 is staying in Asia. Probably a thing or two to do with the average smaller hands of the Asian population.

More interestingly, G3 is now also listed on the China official site.

Actually, the hipsters at Microsoft made the perfect standard mouse a long time before the deathadder. In 4 different shapes. The STMicroelectronics OS MLT 04 sensor they use is also the only sensor I know of that correctly goes diagonal. If you try it on mice like the deathadder and move it diagonal slowly, it makes a staircase motion when on faster movements it doesn't. That isn't a big deal at all, though. I'm sure there are some sensors that don't staircase at low speeds. You are right, though. There is limited options for that "standard."

Correct, what I meant (but didn't say) was that the "3G" by Razer was/is the only "standard" modern, high DPI sensor out there. The Microsoft one while flawless in many respects is not optimal for desktop use in modern resolutions.

It is still pretty relevant depending on your use. It just depends on your desktop. I use 1280x720 on my widescreen monitors and 400 dpi is good enough and in shooter games 400 is more than enough of course.

I did end up ordering a G100 though to test out the avago 3053 sensor line.

Looks like a hybrid between G1 (old ambidex basic gaming mouse) and M90 (non-gaming basic ambidex mouse with great ergonomics). Could be great, wonder if it's going to be available to buy separately, without a keyboard (you can look up "G100" on English pages of Logitech but it returns a keyboard and mouse combo).

Heh. Taobao or the new ebay add that went up? :D

I'll also be ordering one tonite.

It's the same Optical Wired Mechanism styled encoder found in their older mice. Mx5xx, Older G series etc~  Pretty clicky if you ask me.

I guess this is qtan.

Then tomorrow I will be buying a pair of them I think.

If you're buying a couple, I think ordering directly from taobao would be cheaper.

Someone on ESR bought like 3 of them for ~100 USD.

I like how qtan is putting up some already G100s already. : p

I do remember enjoying the scroll wheel on the MX518 so that is good news to me if it is the same. Alhough, I only use mouse1/mouse2/mouse3 on any mouse. Side buttons are only for browsing but backspace does the job for me.

Just ordered a white version from him. (Cheaper than Taobao for 1 item)

I don't really care for optical encoders although Logitech's will sure outlast most mechanicals on the market :P

Well that sounds bad. You mean the tracking was bad/you experienced jittering? Do you have hard pads to try it on?

Both, skylit got it kind of working on 500dpi but it still messes up on mine. I had trouble actually adjusting the dpi from 500 to 1000 because it jumped everywhere when I tried to move the slider. The only nice part is the shape so it'd be cool if I could swap the sensor of it.

I just tested it on my one hard pad for you and it seems to work ok but I wouldn't recommend it. There are better small alternatives like the cm storm spawn. I just hope the xornet doesn't have the tracking issues since it is on a similar line of sensors.

After I further tested the G100 I found it to be useable on certain surfaces only. The best settings I've found are 400, 500 and 1000 dpi. Make sure you turn off all game and application detection in the drivers.

The mouse is super picky on surfaces such as most cloth pads so watch out...

I can't seem to make it malfunction on my goliathus speed edition.

Whats the coating like? To me it doesnt look like its either glossy or rubber?

Also how does the dpi button work, do you choose what dpi you want to be able to switch between? And are those values saved if you uninstall the driver?

It's a basic plastic shell. If you want glossy, the Korean version has you covered.

CPI button toggle's through 1000-1750-2500 without drivers.  The drivers Interpolate a majority custom of settings via MCU. Values aren't saved because Logitech's optical mice don't have onboard memory.

So no skipping, but does it jitter on the goliathus speed edition? If you can confirm that it doesn't jitter, please upload an image of the mouse tracking in paint or whatever. Also, are you going to continue using the g100"

There is sensor jitter which isn't very noticeable when I interpolate it to 400 dpi. Of course the higher the dpi or some settings in general have harsh effects. I doubt I will continue using it but I never know where I'll end up. xD

Hard pads are more workable with the sensor. I tried white paper, for example, and the jittery thing was practically gone.

it's more for fingertip grip gamers, as there are no good reliable fingertip grip mice out there now. the current ones all have sensor problems, this one seems to have a few of it's own though.
