129 for reds isn't that bad.  If I would have known about this 3 weeks ago I would have waited and bought one.  Like the Leopold, but the space bar not accepting the PBT keys I have is bumming me out.

I agree.  I keep bugging Deck to release a non-LED clear switch for less cash.

I'm sure their warranty department would be thrilled.

I still have hopes that WASD might do it.  They've already announced that reds are coming, and they seem to be an organization whose whole schtick is customization.  I'm perfectly happy with my WASD board with blues - in fact I bought that board primarily to mod to clears and ended up liking it so much I scrapped that idea and bought a used Filco to cut up instead.  But I wouldn't mind having another clears board to use at home...  maybe I'll just have to suck it up and get a Rosewill now that they're available again.

but then on the flip side - I haven't tried tenkeyless, so maybe it'd be better to pick up another Filco or try a Leopold (I haven't tried one of those.)

Try it. Afterwards, you'll realize the Numpad should have been on the left side. You gotta see it and feel it in-person.

I just got an RK-9000 and I absolutely love it. Typing on it is a pure joy. This is my second mechanical keyboard, my first is a Unicomp Customizer which I adore. I can only speak for me but as someone who loves Bucking Springs, Cherry MX Blues are a pleasure. I don't think you could go wrong with them.

If you like the click, then Blues are the way to go. I personally can't stand the click any more. I'm firmly in the Brown Sound camp

This is what is stopping me from buying any other switch apart from Brown, I'm going to get my first Blue soon - but I'm afraid I won't like it. Previous to my Brown, the only experiance I had with mechanical keyboards was on DG Mainframes. Which I enjoyed.

A little pricier for the brown and reds
Nice, of course the reds I'm thinking about would be the most expensive, :(  Doesn't really matter right now, I'm so tapped from paying for kids college I won't be buying it immediately so maybe a deal with come up, at least free shipping, while I'm waiting...

I've seen more often people that like BS seem to like ALPS more than Cherry.

But if coloring is your only complaint, then just go ahead and add whatever coloring you want to it. Check out my thread about my m's case to see pics of what mine looks like now.

If only I weren't a poor college student!  Going to stick with the IBM for now; my mouse is in much more dire need of replacement.  Gotta live within my means.

Edit:  Whoops... Curiosity got the better of me, and I ordered it anyway.  I'm a comp sci student,  web developer and I write short stories in my free time; need to be 100% sure I have the best keyboard for me.  That's what I kept muttering under my breath as I proceeded to checkout on newegg :P.

As much as I might think "Yeah, keep telling yourself that", I honestly agree. If you spend a lot of time on the computer, it only makes sense to have the best keyboard / mouse you can afford, since that's what you interact with the most.

Btw, which type of switch did you end up getting?

I went for the blues.  They seem to have the best reputation for typing out of the cherry switches, with possible exception of the browns.  Didn't even consider reds or blacks.  Tactility is a must.

Aside from the dated look and that droning spring resonance, I have nothing against my M.  It's just that when the upgrade bug bites ya, it bites hard!
