Using a new/different case for a model M
« on: Fri, 30 September 2011, 09:51:24 »
So my model m is a 42xxxx model and the new case is a 52xxxx model.

It almost works just fine. The bottom side doesn't seem to hold together as tight as I would expect, especially on the right edge. I opened it up and couldn't find what the cause was. I was hoping that someone who has opened more of these than me might have an idea.

A less annoying problem is where the cord comes out of the case is different between the two models. The result of this combination is that it comes out and there is a hole around the cord.

The keys are 2 different shades of... really dark.  What colors are they?
Filco w/ Imsto thick PBT
Ducky 1087XM PCB+Plate, w/ Matias "Quiet Click" spring-swapped w/ XM Greens

These are the ones that I originally wanted to make green. The mix of the two colors failed horrendously. I now think that it was mainly because of the fact that I was trying to use liquid rit which seems fine for light colors but not the dark ones.

So my only recourse at that point was to go directly to some other color. At first I tried to just go any sort of royal blue, etc, but those all failed. That's when I went navy blue. The modifiers (and spacebar, because this was not the original one to this board, it was abs and is now in a landfill somewhere) were always going to be black and that's what they are.

So in short, most of the keys are navy blue that I didn't pull quite early enough (if you squint your eyes and tilt your head you can still read the lettering). The dark bronze is black. And the WASD is lemon yellow.
