(New) Ergo clear Filco Tenkeyless $225
« on: Fri, 30 September 2011, 18:50:48 »
Sold: Thanks for all the kind words.

I modded a brand new Filco tenkeyless to full ergo clears for a fellow geekhacker but he changed his mind on ergo clear. It is a pretty difficult mod (took me 10 hours) and required sacrificing a cherry clear board and a lot of soldering supplies. I am pretty happy with the result. All keys/leds are tested working as they should. It is still in brand new condition except for the back seal being removed to do the mod and the mod itself. Please message me with questions and thanks for looking.

damn.  Tempting.

Does that price include keycaps, and if so which ones?  Where did you get the clear stems?

Yeah includes keycaps if you want them, will add a pic with keycaps on, they are originial the Filco ones (unused) so there is no wear on them. Can send the lasered cherry keycaps instead if you prefer. The whites came from a Cherry g80-8113 board.

Thanks Jnsjr, and Elbowglue :)

can you estimate wear on the stems, or did you use a new board?

I'm seriously thinking about it, kind of want to try a tenkeyless, and I ergos have to be my second favorite switch next to straight clears...  already modded one board though so I know I can do another if I really decide to do it

I would guess based on appearance/feel that the clear stems were not used much on the board I took them from. The stems had no wear on them. The springs are the original brand new filco ones.

@Polaris - I have a lightly used 104 with straight clears, I've been using it as my "at the office" board...  but I kind of want to try tenkeyless... want to try to work a 3-way deal?  (I'm hoping I won't end up regretting that I suggested that - because it is my absolute favorite keyboard at the moment.)

I don't have the Filco keycaps though.  I could put either white on black Cherry doubleshots or else old school beige/grey Cherry lasered keycaps on it though.  (I like the lower profile of the Cherry caps.  I didn't get the Filco caps because I bought it used off another member here and I told him to keep the caps if he wanted them because I knew I wasn't going to use them.)

I'm still convinced wear on the leaf inside leads to most issues, like mushy feeling, etc. In a brand new filco, even well used stems will feel great.

If anyone was wondering, I was the one who wanted this but backed out. My fingers are developing a condition on these Browns and they tire me out so I'm forced to go Reds. I did ask for a non-full refund due to how much of his time I wasted, but I knew this would sell fast.

Enjoy it, and thank you for saving me from temptation.  (I was seriously thinking about it but given the number of keyboards kicking around here, couldn't justify pulling the trigger without a little deliberation.)
