I dont get it, cant you buy these new from DataHand for $995? Why would you pay twice as much from a random guy on ebay?

There are two boxes. Are there two of them and the seller isn't being clear?

No, but it might be what the buyer thought.  The seller clearly states that he got two and the one he is using works great, so he is selling the other.

He pictures two boxes though!  Why would he do that?  Somebody is going to be quite unhappy in the near future,

Two boxes makes sense, one is for his one the other is brand new I guess? he may flog his used one and keep the new one :) . I think the price premium is the result of the long wait? "...can be hard to get a hold of .." Don't know enough about the company ...

I think he was quite clear that this was just for one keyboard and the people bidding just didn't bother to read... Or am I missing something here?

They are so expensive because Datahand is not currently selling units, and may not in the future.

Supply vs. Demand

There have been several ultra high Datahand sales recently. The new/almost new ones are selling for a premium.
