If you find Geekhack useful, or just like the community that this forum sustains, post your appreciation here.

I've only been a member for about a month, but I can say that this is one of the better forums out there.  People don't seem too harsh towards noobs, there's not all that much snobbery (even ripster has nothing on some of the elitists out there... he only claims to be number one at KEYBOARDS.) There are allot of intelligent personalities who actually attempt to answer peoples questions.  At the same time the environment is light hearted; I don't feel like I'm talking to tech support when I post here.

That's my $.02.  Also, a thanks to iMav for keeping the site afloat!

thanks iMav ashort and community.

The fact that very few of us are delusional about the oddity of a "keyboard hobby" keeps it pretty healthy.
Most members have a healthy perspective on the strangeness that is keyboard collecting.

Most "niche" forums get creepy and way too serious. This place is pretty healthy considering the specificity of its purpose. The organization of the subforums into broader topics, classifieds, etc helps keep it digestable and friendly. ;)

I quite enjoy the forum, I joined upon the idea of making a model M ultraboard (flashdrive, wifi card etc in the m). For me, the forum has sparked my latest idea of making the AIKON controller again. Which because of the great support has progressed quite nicely. (just so no one asks, it's in the groupbuy section)

I'm glad to finally find a forum that is not only filled with information on something I'm interested in but also comprised of a great community of people willing to help each other out.

Yeah, thanks iMav.  Without Geekhack, I wouldn't have spent thousands of dollars on keyboards, keycaps & various accessories...  and also I wouldn't have met a bunch of nice folks here. lol =D

GH taught me, that I shouldn't settle for what's out there. (oh and i really need a workshop, putting stuff in plastic bins and moving them out of the living room when company comes over is annoying, ever get asked what the heck helping hands are doing on the coffee table? to some ppl this thing looks like a weird robot)
Thanks iMav for wanting to do something about his hobby, i do wish he would use his "master of his domain" authority more, such as settling the dispute of topre = or =/= mechanical/rubberdome. If iMav say's it, then that should be as thus. (at least on GH)

Model M and the large number of "low cost" keyboards out there are membrane switch keyboards
Model F and Topre are capacitive switch keyboards
Cherry, Alps, etc are mechanical switch keyboards

I believe it is also appropriate to describe keyboards by other attributes.  (rubber dome, buckling spring, bucking rubber sleeve, space saving, full-sized, etc)

I don't really describe any keyboard as a "mechanical keyboard"... (but if I did, keyboards with mechanical switches would be the most appropriate to be referenced as such)

I'm not sure why all of a sudden I wanted a mechanical keyboard but I know I really wanted one. It was probably because of a YouTube video. I went to Google and found the Mechanical Keyboard Guide at overclock.net. After reading that I noticed a place called geekhack mentioned a few times, so I checked it out. Been here since earlier this year. Love this site.

And a huge thanks to iMav for this place.
