Seems to be China exclusive at the moment based on hearsay from Chinese message boards
Comes with Cherry MX Blues, Brown, Black and Red

PCB mounted. Flat profile keycaps
Price is at 399 RMB or 63USD. Not cheap if you compare these with G80-3000 in Europe, but bear in mind that G80-3000 goes for 100USD around Taobao

The modification was on the keycap profile being a flat profile
Information regarding the type of switches was there all along

Cherry's designers suck ass. I mean, I'm glad they're going after a different look than "battleship," but that's hideous. I'm not too sure that I dig the low-profile caps, either.

I agree, I'm surprised that they are going for a smaller keyboard, but I think the design could be a bit better, and I'm no fan of flat keycaps.

Still, this is a really interesting development.

Are the F and J keys completely unmarked, or what?

That reminds me alot of the new Dell Y-U0003-Del5 keyboards we got in on the last order. It kind of feels like a scissor switch.

I like the flat design of the keycaps but dont particularly care for the design... I even like the 3000 design over this even though it looks less modern then this one seems it is trying to be.

I held a G80-3000 before, a display unit at that, that thing creaks and it feels like a gust of wind can blow it away.
I hope this new design could reduce that creaking, though I am not sure how.

I'd love to see something like this at a 50-60 dollar price point. Makes it almost disposable.

G80-3800 will only have black switches till end of the year.
Red, Brown and Blue will come out after that.

2012 Q1 will have an upgraded version. Stay tune all Cherry Fans.

I do like the smaller size and smaller spacing between key groups.

At first, I thought that the key caps were the same as on the home row, but I think that these are different. The top of the keys is more square and the corners are sharper.
The modifier keys on the bottom row have the same profile as the space bar -- finally!

I'm definitely going to have to pick one of these up for my girlfriend. I've been trying to get her to use a mechanical keyboard, but she doesn't like the shape of the keys. She's used to the way laptop keys feel, so she uses my old Razer Lycosa at work because it is similar. Maybe this will move her to the mechanical world.

Interesting keyboard, hopefully it'll get those used to a laptop keyboard to use a mechanical. I don't think it's meant to cater to the majority of GH users, but we're a pretty niche market. I used to type away just fine on my old Thinkpad laptop years ago, but now whenever I use a laptop I feel like I've lost my sense of direction on the keyboard.

I wish they could have managed to make it a little sleeker. That hump along the top ruins it to me.
