HHKB Professional 2 Type-S & Accessories(Roof and Keycaps)
« on: Fri, 21 October 2011, 06:48:01 »
I have a HHKB Professional 2 Type-S (PD-KB400WS) up for sale.  This is the Type-S version that I believe stands for speed & silence. It is less than 1 week old. I ordered this on Oct 5 and received it last Saturday the 15th.

I ordered the keyboard from smartimports.net for $470, I'm asking for $450 (plus PayPal fees & shipping).  I've only used this keyboard for a couple of days but then boxed it back up because I couldn't adjust to the layout. Having the Ctrl key where the CapsLock used to be is awkward and it's just easier to hit the arrow or navigation keys in one press instead of having to hold down the Fn key.  My typing style is more of a "hands-off keyboard until needed" than a "hovering over home-row" style plus I don't touch type that well.

I have been using a Realforce 87u for awhile and compared to the HHKB, the 87u is definitely louder.  I did notice that with the HHKB Type-S the sound does not vary as much as the 87u when hitting the keys quickly, I guess that is the silence in "Type-S" doing its job.

The keyboard roof, red escape key and lavender keys were bought from elitekeyboards. I'm asking for $50 (plus PayPal fees & shipping).

More photos are available in my photo album(sorry for the large and blurry pics, I took it on my cell phone).

Please PM with offers. Thank you.

If they made this in ISO and едц integrated with Fn key...
Could even pass on the ISO part for this board, but the lack of the proper letters едц is unforgivable!
KB\'s: Filco TKL MJ2 Ergo Clear/Brown Swedish ISO, HHKB white blank, IBM Model M 1990 ISO
On the way:  Phantom!

You can get them as combo with ansi.

By the way i don't understand how you can buy a 470 $ keyboard and not try it longer than 2 days...
Of course the layout is uncommon but it works fine on Unix and on windows too(on macos i remap the ctrl to command).
You can get caps lock as a key combo.
Realforce 105 FR, HHKB Pro 2 black, 1 Raptor K1 Black Cherry and 1 Raptor K1 Red Cherry , Compag MX 11800  tBrown Cherry, G80-3000 Clear Cherry , G80-1000 Blue Cherry / Ghetto red, Lexmark 1992 SSK Buckling spring, Unicomp 2011 Customizer 102 Buckling spring
and a few rubber dome/scissors keyboards from Apple/Logitech

I have thought of bringing it to work which would force me to adjust to the HHKB layout but to me, it's just more convenient to have the arrow keys in a inverted T layout.  While I can remap the keys for my home computer, the machines I use at work are locked down and I don't have admin rights.

Yes this is the real problem, the arrow keys. I got used to them but it's still unusual. Sometimes I wish everything will work as Vim does...

Good luck for your sale ;-)
