That's a pretty expensive keyboard I know, and I don't really have the funds to buy it right now anyways, but I was curious if there was anyone on here that has one and wouldn't be opposed to getting rid of it at a fair price in the next few months. Basically that's my dream keyboard. I've gotten a taste of Topres in the past as some of you may know, and down the line here I'd like to pick one up... but if I'm going to get one it's going to be exactly what I want. I said it in the title but I might as well list it off again.

Tenkeyless Topre 87U
Black
Uniform 45g
Spare set of red keycaps with legends.

If anyone wants to PM me about how much they would want for theirs or how much I should expect to pay for that it would be much appreciated, thanks.

I will take your Leopold w/ Blues off your hands for $50 Dave. Should help you get closer to the money needed.

Lol, you cheapskate. I'm keeping mine, I like it better. Just got ninja keycaps for it too. I love the otaku look, but honestly I accidentally hit hold position on my units 5 times today when I went to use forcefields. Can't have it hindering my SC2. :P

I'll be throwing my brown key leopold up for sale here in a bit.

When the hell did you find the time to buy Ninjas? And I am not cheap, just thrifty. I will probably be picking up JPM's blue Archiss and putting my stock leopold keys on it... just need to get one of my new fangled spacebars in January to use it.

The thread is about halfway down the page. Ninjas are my favorite look... now if only I could find red or blue ninja keycaps to checkerboard it. XD

Anyways, the goal is to have the RF87UB for daily use and the pimped out Leopold for gaming. Topres are just fine for gaming but meh, where else am I going to put all my pimp ass keycaps?

Funny thing is, I don't expect anyone to want to sell one of these since they're about as awesome as you can get.

Oh you know me and pimped out leopolds.

I don't think getting the RF will be hard but the keycaps themselves will be *****; nearly everyone wants colored Topre caps but since EK stopped selling them you have too find sellers overseas. Good call on the 45g as you choice though; thats the one I would get.

Err, I meant to say G for guardian shield, which is quite a bit easier to do. I've been a derp all day though.

The layout of modifiers and other keys are different. While I wouldn't be heartbroken to have one, if I was to get a non  ANSI layout, I'd want a 91UB, since my second language is Japanese.

Its funny because I could easily just throw it on my card like I did the gaming rig I ordered last night, but dumping that much cash on it when its half the price of the comp I just bought is just lolz. My hope for this thread was to be able to pick one up used for around $300-350.

Yea, but you also tried to get a 45g for way cheaper than normal and the rare caps for way cheaper than normal. That's like hoping to grab a Type R with Dolch caps for $120.

Rag I seem to recall you boasting about dropping $1k on audio equipment or something on your old EK Realforce mix-up thread...you seem like someone who is willing to shell out to get the best.  You were prepared to spend $40 on a set of Starcraft keys before you took over the buy.

My unsolicited advice is to get the board, or not, or give this thread a month, but don't waste time and energy with hand-wringing. It's only money. :)

I like to get good value with my expensive purchases. That audio equipment that I bought retail would have been over $1800, and the net utility I got out of it is a lot more than replacing a great keyboard with the best keyboard... At the end of the day, I can't really justify that much on it right now, even though I have plenty of money to blow on it, I can put that toward other things I want more. You're right though, I am one who is more than willing to shell out to get the best, but I'm not stressing about it, RCT is just exaggerating to tease me.

I am from Washington State as well, seem to be a lot of Washington peeps here on Geekhack. We love our boards! I would say just go for it. If it is indeed your dream board, and you will have it for a very long time. Yes, the money is a lot at first, but you should have the board for a long time so you would forget about the price later:) Also, others are right you aren't going to get reduced prices on Topre stuff. Hopefully, EK can stock the 45g as their regular tenkeyless Topre and stop messing around with the variable. Most people consider the light home row keys (on the variable) to be a nuisance including my wife. I can't imagine how annoying they are while gaming. I suppose someone could adjust, but why would you want to? For that price you want the perfect board. I prefer the 55g myself way more than the 45g. But, good luck on your next purchase! I am sure you will make the right decision for yourself ;)
