Cherry should update their product codes for mx switches
« on: Tue, 25 October 2011, 09:37:27 »
I was just thinking earlier perhaps there could be some very nice key switches that we don't actually know about. My reasoning is that Cherry seems to release each of their key switches alphabetically and I haven't seen any information on the switches between MX1A-G (brown) and MX1A-L (red). If anyone has information on the elusive ones I would be very interested in hearing about it. As far as I can tell the current known list is as follows. (simplified of course since full information about each of these is in the Wiki.)
Code: [Select]
MX1A-1 - Black switch
MX1A-2 - Dark Grey switch
MX1A-3 - Black switch with Grey upper housing and toggles on/off
MX1A-A - White switch
MX1A-B - Grey switch
MX1A-C - Clear switch
MX1A-D - Light Grey switch
MX1A-E - Blue switch
MX1A-F - Green switch
MX1A-G - Brown switch
MX1A-H - (unknown)
MX1A-I - (unknown)
MX1A-J - (unknown)
MX1A-K - (unknown)
MX1A-L - Red switch
Current collection: Filco Tenkeyless MX Brown, IBM Model M, Happy Hacking Keyboard Lite II, Dell AT101W.
Looking for: IBM Model M SpaceSaver, HHKB Topre keychain. >> Feedback Thread

But it isn't only the USA cherry who hasn't updated their website. I can't find any of their websites with updated information. Not even the equivalent of a information release with the newest models.

It's incredible how a company like cherry can't or don't want to afford a professional video, let alone a professional salesman!

I believe in the case of Cherry products they can pretty much sell themselves, their quality speaks wonders about the company. But if they had a sales team like Apple does, they would have products in about 30% of peoples homes within two years.

Anyone could have a product in %30 of houses with Apple's marketing... Even Apple. I couldn't sell those trash, overpriced, primitive products to one of those brain washed "genius bar" lunatics.

What's worse, to service apple products, you need to go through a ridiculous rigamarole with certification. The worst part about that is that you end up knowing way too much about apple products and quality.

I think Cherry is doing some things right : Keyboards & keyswitches. They certainly need to sort out some other things though.

Also, if UNICOMP had some SSK's manufactured, and had any advertising at all, then they'd really "be in business". I'd buy stock.

Unicomp needs to advertise, there is a reason we all got drawn into mech keyboards, because they feel awesome. Everyone uses computers for several hours a day now, and therefore unicomp would have an easy job turning this niche market mainstream. I feel like they are barely staying afloat when they could be booming.

Really, all they need to do is promise SSK's to come out, and they'd get dozens (Hundreds?) of orders from here alone.
