Media keys to replace F5 - F8
« on: Sat, 29 October 2011, 19:17:21 »
Hey folks,

I'm trying to find some media keys for my Filco TNK to replace the F5 - F8 keys since I have them mapped to my MP3 player and don't use them for anything else. Do any of you know where I might be able to procure something like this? I'd like the color to be in red or white if possible.

Thanks!

Well, I basically never plan to use the media keys I got with my CMstorm, so when my new keys come in the mail, I'd be happy to send you them. Other than that, I'd say SP is a good option. You can get some from WASD (good deal, too) but you'll also have to get 100 other keys. On the plus side, you'll be able to have plenty of spares.

That'd be great! Can you show me a pic of what they look like? If they're in good condition/the right kind of keys I'd be happy to compensate you for 'em, plus the shipping. I'm not really in a rush.

Also, I've already bought $58 worth of key caps which includes plenty of extras so I really don't need any more :P

Well, my phone takes awful pictures, and it's a non-trivial task to upload them, but I assure you, they are the same keycaps you see in the review pictures:

http://geekhack.org/showthread.php?22303-CM-storm-quick-fire-rapid-impression

F5,F6,F7,F8,F10,F11,F12
play/pause, stop, Previous track, next track, mute, volumedown, volume up.

F9 is the lock widows key, and you probably don't want it.

Keys are in good condition, basically new, as I've only recently gotten the keyboard. They've been pressed only 2-3 times each. They're printed or laser+infill or something, and the legends stick up a bit, and are off-white.

Also, I've recently bought ~$180 worth of keycaps, so I've got plenty, too :p

So, y'know, PM me if you want them. If not, no biggie: I'd still highly recommend WASD. (who now sells custom keycaps one-off for a great price)

Those are perfect. It's a shame that the whole key is black, but at least the important parts are white. I'd be happy to take those off your hands. Whenever you're ready to part with them shoot me a PM so we can make arrangements accordingly! :)

WASD lets you do custom keycaps now. http://www.wasdkeyboards.com/index.php/products/individual-custom-keycaps/printed-keycap.html

I don't see anything about symbols on there - just text.

re: WASD - If you can find what you want in one of the "wingdings" fonts he'll do it, or just email him with what you want.  just sayin'.  (Weyman did a really cool engraved Superman logo for me in place of my Windows keys on the keyboard I ordered from him, and that's not "on the menu."  Yeah, I know, I have a really odd sense of humor.)
Filco Majestouch-2 with Cherry Corp. doubleshot keys - Leopold Tenkeyless Tactile Force with Wyse doubleshots - Silicon Graphics 9500900 - WASD V1 - IBM Model M 52G9658 - Noppoo Choc Pro with Cherry lasered PBT keycaps - Wyse 900866-01 - Cherry G80-8200LPBUS/07 - Dell AT101W - several Cherry G81s (future doubleshot donors) (order of current preference) (dang I have too many keyboards, I really only need two)

He allows you to upload a custom design. See the link in my post, re-quoted here.

Sounds good. Oh, and the custom designs sounds nice. I kind of want a Backspace key that has the troll face on it or something :P
