I am in a dilemma right now...
« on: Thu, 03 November 2011, 19:49:19 »
I want a TKL, MX red or clear (leaning toward clears) board.

Board I have pre-ordered right now is the Leopold White TKL Clear from EliteKeyboards.  Their site says shipping starts Nov. 10.

Anyone know of retailers that stock these kinds of boards besides EK? (US)

Reasons why I am reluctant to continue with the Leopold...

1. EliteKeyboards's return policy is dejecting. (Only 30 day returns for DOA, no exchanges or refunds.)
2. Their spacebar stabilizers have a different distance from the center, compared to other keyboards that use dummy switches for stabilizers. (Not sure if true, I think I read this somewhere.)

I currently have a Das S Blues.  Want something new, preferably quieter.  Was considering a Filco White TKL Brown from Amazon, but not sure if I want browns.  I think I'm just gonna bite the bullet and go with a Leopold.

If you are looking at a tenkeyless boards with clears there is not many options out there which it seems like you have done research on to know...

The spacebar thing only comes into play if you want to replace the keycaps with some other keys then it plays into the equation...the better question is whether you will like costar or cherry style stablizers( the ones that leo's have). I actually dont mind either, but some people like one over the other.

If you really, really want a Red TKL and think the Leo stabilizers are a problem then get a CM storm from PChome.

The stabilizers, however, are not a problem unless you are trying to replace your keyboard.
I like my Browns more than my Blues.

If you have a razor knife, some old keycaps, a Dremel, some epoxy, a drill, and some spare stems and/or stabilizer thingys (you can buy those from WASD) you can make a jig out of a scrap 2x4 to make any space bar the right length work on a Leopold.  It's not that hard...

As others have said, the Leopold is really your only out of the box option for tenkeyless w/ clears unless you want to buy a Filco etc. and do a stem/spring swap (doable but not a quick project.)
Filco Majestouch-2 with Cherry Corp. doubleshot keys - Leopold Tenkeyless Tactile Force with Wyse doubleshots - Silicon Graphics 9500900 - WASD V1 - IBM Model M 52G9658 - Noppoo Choc Pro with Cherry lasered PBT keycaps - Wyse 900866-01 - Cherry G80-8200LPBUS/07 - Dell AT101W - several Cherry G81s (future doubleshot donors) (order of current preference) (dang I have too many keyboards, I really only need two)

They don't seem very professionnal and are for sure not client service oriented at all at EK. Greedy pigs to me.

You should have said it pinged.

did you have problems with your camo and your group buy caps? my left shift and caps locks always gets stuck on the side of the board.
