Do you have many Indian, Thai, or Ethiopian restaurants in Stockholm?
I have never tried any Ethiopian restaurant. I have heard of only one, and it was invite only. Last month, I found some
injera bread in a store and tried it out with a few stews, but the taste of the bread was too sharp for me.
There are plenty of Asian restaurants of all sorts in Stockholm. Thailand is the most popular tourist destination for Swedes, so a demand for Thai food is high and there are plenty of places, from cheap street stands to expensive. However, most low to mid-level Asian restaurants in Stockholm are pretty stream-lined with a menu that has been adapted to Swedish tastes and way of serving. There is often only one vegetarian dish on the menu: stir-fried or stewed "mixed vegetables" with rice.
I have had a few really good "dal" (Indian lentil stew), tofu and seitan dishes, but you need to know where to go to get them.
Previous Christmases, I have made mock Christmas "ham" out of tofu or Quorn. I think that the most part of the Christmas ham is not the "ham" itself but the taste of cloves, sweet strong mustard and apple sauce together.
