Thinking about gettings blues.

I recently posted about notch's keyboard, and said that it was the blue switch - which indeed it is. However I thought the switch was more high pitched than this - after listening to some audio clips on youtube, and a couple of sound clips on this forum. Is it just because his has some use? or does the das II sound very different from the filco?

If it is the way it sounds in his video, I will definitely be getting blues.

blue switches sound all the same. There are however other contributing factor to the acoustic of the keyboard, including the material of the enclosure as well as the keycaps.





Think its time to make up your mind about the switch. instead of creating 3, 4 threads asking about different switches.

I own / have owned Filco and Das with blues and I think the clip is pretty close to how they sound. I have found that keycaps are a major factor to the sound signature, for example my Filco Blue with PBT keycaps sounds quite different from a stock one. I actually prefer the sound of the stock Filco caps but unfortunately they're awful in every other way.

It's the same keyboard with two sets of keycaps made of different material.

Blue are a nice switch if you like tactile. They are the best tactile MX in my opinion. Brown I think are not tactile enough, and clear is too stiff.

But saying Filco caps are awful is The McRip Effect.

Their texture feels like **** (not literally). Especially when they've been used longer and have some wear. No, I don't bleed grease and I wash my hands usually before using keyboards.

Maybe it's just me but I can't stand them.

The clip (despite only hearing a click here, or a clack there inconsistently) sounds about right.  I've owned a Noppoo, Das and Filco with Blues, and they all naturally sound the same.  However, the variables (as ktkr mentions) are typically attributed to the nature of the keycap and how well structured the keyboard is in general.  Regardless, if you like the way it sounds in that video, then you're on the right track.  

But sound, to many, is only just one variable in determining what kind of switch is for you.
