Ebay problem :(
« on: Sat, 19 November 2011, 13:50:47 »
I'm having some problems with trying to enter correct shipping address in ebay. It's a company in Florida, and ebay just won't accept the telephone number provided by their website! I tried to google it, tried writing it in every way, nothing. How should i correctly format a USA number? From website i got "TEL. 727 265 2100"

Usually sites just want 7272652100. Sometimes they want it like 727-265-2100. What did eBay say, specifically?

"Unable to process the information provided. Please contact eBay customer support."

The fields for the number are:

(blablabla)-blablabla-blablabla ext:blablabla
I tried with (727)-265-2100 and got this message :X

Yep, nothing. But I found some guy from Singapore who claimed to had similar problem - Ebay recognized phone number from his shipping address as a number used by many users and blocked it. Maybe that's the problem?

BTW the RPN looks weird, really. Don't see the use of it in 48÷2(9+3)= ?. I mean I see that I can use it, but I don't need to. How it appeals to phone numbers?

Hmm. Are you using ebay.com or ebay.pl? Maybe using the other one might work around it. (I know it's unlikely, but...)

I've encountered an identical problem in the past when using a freight forwarding service. The addresses/suites might be different but the telephone number used is the same. That's a problem that the eBay system will recognize because one telephone number should not have multiple different shipping addresses.

You could try and get the shipping company to give you an alternative telephone number.

This Singaporian (?) fella  said that ebay let him use this number after reporting the issue.

I'm glad Ripster that you know something about my country :)) I've never heard of this thing, seriously. Also I know that it's 2, figured it out :p

It needs a unique shipping telephone for you? Sign up for a free US number from sipgate or google voice, and you can use for such things again in the future.

Right its for the destination address so technically 'your' address. I used my trick a lot when dealing with places that need a reshipping service from Europe. I have a number for Germany, Ukraine, Russia, France... and they all come to my email inbox so I can actually receive the message and contact them if there is a problem.

Of course America is #1.  An American invented the phone.

48÷2(9+3)= 2 btw.
