Canadians: How much to import a Realforce?

Anybody from Canada import a Realforce from elitekeyboards.com? I was wondering how much the import fees would be.

What's the matter*? I think the custom fees are between 20 and 30$, but hey, you already paid 345$ for the board, why are you bothered by that*?

vBulletin is replacing my non-breaking spaces with asterisks, it's not my fault.

Depending on who is shipping it, customs will either be:
USPS: Tax rate of your province
Fedex: Tax rate of your province + a small brokerage fee (iirc $5)
UPS: Tax rate of your province + a huge brokerage fee if you use ground ($44.25 if it is between 200 and 350. If it's between 350 and 500, it's $49.70)

For example, if you use UPS, and you live in BC, and you get the 87u, then it's $345 + shipping from EKB, + (345*12%)=$41.40 in tax, plus $44.25 brokerage fee = $430.65 plus shipping (iirc, $30)

Well for all I know the import fees could have been $100, which would make me reconsider buying one at all.

When I bought a Leopold from them I had to pay $30 in imports (separate from shipping which was $30 of its own), which is much more than what my taxes in Quebec (below 14%) would explain. They ship using USPS so I don't know where the rest of the fees come from, assuming bbbbqq's model.

Just worried that import fees not related to taxes will get out of hand.

What you're talking about are custom fees, the more your item is worth the more you pay.
http://www.ups.com/content/ca/en/shipping/cost/zones/customs_clearance.html
Roughly 30$ for a leopold and 50$ for a realforce.

I'm in Toronto - purchased a 103 U-UW from EK for $215 in March, according to the customs sheet only $138 is applicable for duty and I paid $12 in duty.

I have ordered two keyboards from EK in the past (TKL mx blue and TKL mx red (in white))
I was charged for customs only for my blues. I did not have to pay a single penny on customs (or anything for that matter, aside from what I paid to EK via paypal at the time of ordering) for my reds. Not coincidentally, it also came to me a lot faster. When I was tracking my blues, they were stuck at customs for 4 business days (though this time varies).
So if you get lucky you probably won't have to pay any customs fee but should def. find out how much it'd cost you in the event that you do get charged!

Don't forget that on top of the customs (duty) charge you will also have to pay GST on it as well.  I've never been lucky enough to not have to pay duty on a keyboard coming in from the US (that was made outside of the US).  I've also never heard of having to pay duty only on a portion of the amount either.  Maybe I've just never been that lucky, they keep bending me over (and over, and over).

I have an 86U to sell, if you want to skip importing all together.
