I'm selling them because I have kind of fallen out with Cherry switches since I discovered variable weighted Topre! I've paid a deposit for a variable weighted 10th Anniversary 87U, so as soon as I have paid for the rest of it (and of course when it has arrived at my house) I'll be typing on that for the foreseeable future.

It has been realllllly difficult going back to a normal non ergonomic/split keyboard (for the last year I've been typing on a Kinesis, G80-5000 and Maltrons) but it's starting to come back to me now.

Yeah, I think so too! I guess just before Christmas is not the best time to be selling a decently expensive niche keyboard...

Bump.

Alas, with the arrival of TE, it appears that Maltron are done for.

Are you getting a Truly Ergonomic yourself? Do you think more UK folks will be getting TE keyboards than Maltrons going forward?

Nah, it was an attempt at a poor joke! I'm not a massive fan of the TE. I thought it was cool when I first saw the pictures of it... But now, Meh.

For the moment at least I'm quite happy touch typing on a regular layout Topre board. If I ever get the itch to go back to a split layout, I would probably end up going for the uber expensive uTron (the idea of the non-matrix/reversed staggered left hand has grown on me).

I just don't think that the TE is that ergonomic. I think that the matrix layout only provides any benefit if your arms/hands are in a straight line; to achieve this, each half of the keyboard needs to be a fair distance apart or even better, separated. Having used the typematrix which is very similar to the TE layout, I think it would only make sense if you had arms coming out of the front of your chest at a 90 degree angle. Look at the TE picture and tell me that pressing HY would be more comfortable on this board than it would be on a regular board. Your hands are simply not in the right position for it to make sense (the two half are not angled enough). For me the uTron makes total sense with the reverse stagger on the left hand.

In short:

When the keyboard halves are close together, standard layout is more comfortable than matirx. When the keyboard is split far enough apart, matrix is better. uTron layout wins overall.

I had thought about it but ebay's fees are getting beyond a joke. I'm not in that much of a rush to sell them so I just thought that I'd give them a gentle bump on here.

Meep, I would be interested. Do you have any idea how much shipping to Germany would be?
I had a sig once but it's gone. It used to display an icon of a Kinesis. Just imagine that.

I would charge approx 20 Euros for postage (tracked and insured). If the postage ended up being less I would refund the difference.

Let me know if your interested.
